Dear Brothers and Sisters in the Lord, Welcome!

I rejoice in your presence with the Sacred Heart worshiping community as we celebrate our Eucharistic Liturgy for the Seventh Sunday of

Easter. You bless us through your prayerful participation. May the Word proclaimed and the Bread of Life nurture your faith and lift your spirit. Thanks for joining us! Happy Mother’s Day! Let us remember in prayer today our mothers, both living and deceased. May they know the Peace of Christ in their lives. This Wednesday, May 11, we will celebrate our annual May Procession at 7:00pm. All are invited to gather in the School Yard at 7:00pm, when we will have the recitation of the Rosary. Following the Rosary, we will have a procession to the Church for a Prayer Service honoring the Blessed Mother. All are welcome. Next Sunday, at the 12:00noon Liturgy, Rev. Michael J. Callaghan, C.M. will be celebrating his 40th Anniversary of Priesthood. Ordained for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, his first assignment was here at Sacred Heart. Fr. Callaghan later joined the Vincentians and is presently stationed at the Miraculous Medal Shrine in Germantown. I welcome Fr. Callaghan back to Sacred Heart as he celebrates the blessings of his forty years of ministry. In today’s First Reading from the Acts of the Apostles, Stephen is on trial, accused of disparaging Hebrew faith and tradition. Although innocent, he is thrown out of the city and attacked with stones. Stephen imitates Jesus as he says, “Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.” He models Jesus’ mercy as he cried out, “Lord, do not hold this sin against them.” In our discipleship, we, too, are challenged to imitate Jesus in our interactions with one

another. May mercy be a quality we witness to in our relationships with our neighbors. Peace be with you! God bless, Fr. McKee

“Wear RED for Pentecost” Red is the traditional color for the day of Pentecost. Red symbolizes the flames that came down on the disciples while they were in the upper

room, the energizing flames of the Holy Spirit that gave the disciples the ability to go and preach the story of the "Good News." Let’s all come to Mass next Sunday WEARING RED,

thereby declaring next weekend our “wear red to worship day!” Wearing red can also serve as a reminder to us to “go and preach the story of the ‘Good News.”
