There are several families in our school who will not be return-ing this fall because their children are graduating. Farewell to the families of Joe and Kim Albright, Brent and Kari Edel, Valerie Edel, Jim and Shelli Eveland, Joel and Laura Groenenboom, and Steph-anie Groenendyk. We thank these families for their time spent on Willing Workers’ Committees, School Board, and many other ways they have been a blessing. We so much appreciate all you have done for our school. And if there are families who will not be return-ing for other reasons, we thank you too! We will miss all of you!!

This year we are saying goodbye to several staff members who will not be returning next year:Kari Edel, 1st grade teacherAimee Higgins, student aideKendra Briggs, student aide Abbie Vander Molen, student aide and classroom aide While we will certainly miss these wonderful faculty and staff mem-bers, we are grateful for the time they have spent with us and wish them the best in the future as well.

The Joe Gray Award has been given to students in Oskaloosa in recognition of im-proved and exemplary penmanship for many years. Mr. Joe Gray, an Oskaloosa resident who thought his own handwriting was poor, wanted to encourage students to improve their own penmanship skills. He began the

Joe Gray Foundation, and every year, he donated money to the Oskaloosa schools to use in a way to encourage students. After the passing of both Mr. and Mrs. Gray, Oskaloosa Christian has continued this tradition of awarding students the honor.Congratulations to the recipients of this year’s Joe Gray Pen-manship Awards:2nd Grade: Asher Edel, Aubrey Kaisand, Josie Hessing, Cayden Plate4th Grade: Rachel Hoksbergen, Taylor Hol, Ayden Plumb, Haiden Spray6th Grade: Erica De Bruin, Lilly Hite, Madi Hol

THEME VERSE:“So then, just as you received

Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened into the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.”

Colossians 2:6-7

THEME ACTIVITY: Our students participated in activities on Friday afternoon in their chapel groups to review the throughlines that they learned this year. They sang worship songs to remember that a God Worshiper offers thanks, praise, and honor to God by the way they live. They created encouraging notes for each other to review that a Community Builder builds communities in our classroom, city, and world that are a blessing to all. They were Beauty Creators by using art to make a thank you card to give away. A Beauty Creator creates beauty as a way of praising God and enriching our world. Another activity that they participated in was working on puzzles to be an Order Discoverer. They were reminded that God creates order out of chaos so that we find harmony and order in God’s creation. The final activity was to make a bird feeder. This activity reminded them that they need to be an Earth Keeper who takes care of and protects God’s creation. Our hope is that as the students are away from school this summer, they will remember these throughlines and continue to live them out to show how they have a part in God’s story! -Mrs. Kristin Van Zee

God Bless You!

Mrs. De Bruin and the students from the Intro to Publishing elective took on the challenge of writing, assembling, editing and publishing a book in 4 class periods. The result: "Absolutely Random Stories for Random People" has been published. Now available on Amazon!
