PENTECOSTTHE BIRTH OF OUR CHURCH

Dear friends in Christ; Today, the Church with great rejoicing celebrates the descent of the Holy Spirit upon Mary, the mother of God, and the Apostles. The Spirit was sent by Jesus, from the Father, to empower the disciples to go forth and announce the Gospel of Christ. Up to this moment, the disciples were locked up in the upper room for fear of the Jews. The Holy Spirit comes to strengthen their faith and to fill them with the very wisdom of God so they could continue the work of Jesus here on this earth. The Spirit did marvelous things like allow the disciples to speak the languages of all those who had come up to Jerusalem for the feast. All the pilgrims understood the things the disciples were saying as the Spirit descended on them like tongues of fire. Many, probably thought they were drunk. Peter was able to speak on behalf of the Holy Spirit and help them see the reality of God present in their midst. Can we say that this is the birth of the Church? One thing we can say, Christianity began with the coming of the Holy Spirit because from here on in, the Gospel of Jesus began to be preached and the believers, together with the Apostles, formed the Christian community center on the very person of Jesus Christ, whom they now begin to preach and proclaim about. The birth of the Church starts with the coming of the Holy Spirit and the courage the disciples received from the Spirit, to go into the world to preach the Good News. The Paschal Mystery is now complete and Jesus has fulfilled the promise of sending us the Paraclete. The Holy Spirit arrives filled with life, bringing believers deeper into the mystery of the living God. The work of the Holy Spirit arrives in every Christian’s life on the day of their baptism; at that moment, the Spirit urges every Christian to open the doors, preaching and witnessing to the Gospel’s good news, sharing faith’s joyful message and inviting everyone to an encounter with Jesus. What power we receive from the Lord through the gift of the Holy Spirit. It is a power that can change our lives into lives of authentic Christians and great disciples of Jesus. For this reason, on this feast of Pentecost let us open ourselves to the gift of the Holy Spirit and allow the Spirit to transform our lives for the good of our community and for building the Kingdom of God. The Holy Spirit encourages every baptized person to ask two questions; Am I going to live my faith just for myself or will I share it with others? What gift has the Holy Spirit given me for the good of others? Open yourself up to the Holy Spirit today and always, and realize how present he is in your daily life. please consider helping our Carmelite sisters. Their

convent is in bad shape and needs a lot of reparations. We haven’t been able to

MONTH OF MAY-ROSARY AT DAWNWe have one more Saturday to pray the

rosary at dawn. This is a great way to honor our Blessed Mother. Please join us as we come to the closing of the month of May

dedicated to our Lady. Remember, the rosary is at 6:00 A.M.

STEWARDSHIP TIPWe tend to find time for our priorities; but we

don’t always have our priorities straight. Consider ways in which you find yourself wast-

ing time; for some, it’s gabbing on the tele-phone; others spend too much time on the computer or watching television. Often, we

have more time than we realize. As with money, we can spend our time more wisely if we study how we use it. You might want to create a pie chart to diagram how you spend

your time. If, on average, you work eight hours and sleep eight hours, that accounts for two-

thirds of your days, five days a week. What do you do with the remaining eight hours? Is there an area in which you waste time that might be

reclaimed for better stewardship?

PENTECOSTÉSEL NACIMIENTO DE NUESTRA IGLESIA

Queridos amigos en Cristo;

Hoy, la Iglesia con gran regocijo celebra el descenso del Espíritu Santo sobre María, la madre de Dios y los apóstoles. El Espíritu fue enviado por Jesús, del Padre, para empoderar a los discípulos para que salieran a anunciar el Evangelio de Cristo. Hasta este momento, los discípulos estaban encerrados en el cenáculo por miedo a los judíos. El Espíritu Santo viene a fortalecer su fe y a llenarlos de la sabiduría misma de Dios para que puedan continuar la obra de Jesús aquí en esta tierra. El Espíritu hizo cosas maravillosas como permitir que los discípulos hablaran los idiomas de todos aquellos que habían venido a Jerusalén para la fiesta. Todos los peregrinos comprendieron las cosas que los discípulos decían cuando el Espíritu descendió sobre ellos como lenguas de fuego. Muchos, probablemente pensaron que estaban borrachos. Pedro pudo hablar en nombre del Espíritu Santo y ayudarlos a ver la realidad de Dios presente en medio de ellos. ¿Podemos decir que este es el nacimiento de la Iglesia? Una cosa que podemos decir; El cristianismo comenzó con la venida del Espíritu Santo porque a partir de esa hora, el Evangelio de Jesús comenzó a predicarse y los creyentes, junto con los Apóstoles, formaron la comunidad cristiana centrada en la misma persona de Jesucristo, de quien ahora comienzan a predicar y proclamar. El nacimiento de la Iglesia comienza con la venida del Espíritu Santo y el valor que los discípulos recibieron del Espíritu, para ir a través del mundo a predicar la Buena Nueva. El Misterio Pascual ya está completo y Jesús ha cumplido la promesa de enviarnos el Paráclito. El Espíritu Santo llega lleno de vida, llevando a los creyentes a profundizar en el misterio del Dios viviente. La obra del Espíritu Santo llega a la vida de todo cristiano el día de su bautismo; en ese momento, el Espíritu urge a todo cristiano a abrir las puertas, predicando y dando testimonio de las buenas noticias del Evangelio, compartiendo el mensaje gozoso de la fe e invitando a todos a un encuentro con Jesús. Qué poder recibimos del Señor por medio del regalo del Espíritu Santo. Es un poder que puede transformar nuestra vida en vidas de auténticos cristianos y grandes discípulos de Jesús. Por esta razón, en esta fiesta de Pentecostés abrámonos al don del Espíritu Santo y permitamos que el Espíritu transforme nuestra vida por el bien de nuestra comunidad y por la construcción del Reino de Dios. El Espíritu Santo anima a toda persona bautizada a hacer dos preguntas; ¿Voy a vivir mi fe sólo por mí mismo o la compartiré con los demás? ¿Qué don me ha dado el Espíritu Santo para el bien de los demás? Ábrete al Espíritu Santo hoy y siempre, y date cuenta de lo presente que está en tu vida diaria.

Memorias de TonyVeo que muchos estudiantes de universidad han terminado por este año. Quiero felicitarlos y desearles que tengan unas buenas vacaciones de verano

porque con esta pandemia, no ha sido fácil para nadie; Pero

ustedes lo lograron y estoy seguro que sus familias están muy orgullosas y contentas. Me encontré este cuento y quiero compartirlo con ustedes. Una maestra del jardín infantil (kindergarten) estaba observando su salón de clase y como los niños

hacían sus dibujos. La maestra ocasionalmente caminaba al rededor de la clase para observar sus trabajos de arte. Al llegar a una niña que estaba trabajando fuertemente, le pregunto que estaba dibujando. La pequeña le respondió: “¡Estoy dibujando a Dios!” “pero querida,” le replico la maestra, “Nadie sabe como es Dios.” Automáticamente, la pequeña continúo dibujando y dijo: “Muy bien, ¡ciertamente lo sabrán en un minuto!” Espero que usted no sea de los que se lo saben todo. ¡Ciao…guao guao!. ¡Que tengan una buena semana!

CONOCE TU FE¿Cómo debemos de pensar de Dios?No podemos pensar en Dios como un ser poderoso dentro del universo si no, como Creador de todo el universo y de todo cuanto hay en el. Debemos dar gracias a El por el don de nuestras vidas y por el amor que nos ha manifestado. Debemos obedecer sus leyes, las cuales nos llevan a la felicidad con El.¿Cómo nos has demostrado Dios su amor?Dios nos ha demostrado su amor por nosotros dándonos la vida, pero mas que eso, perdonándonos cuando le desobedecemos, y levantándonos para compartir en su propia vida por medio de Jesucristo. Esto es lo que llamamos redención.

prioridades; pero no siempre nuestras prioridades son correctas. Piense en las

como utilizas tu tiempo. Si, en promedio trabajas ocho horas y duermes ocho horas, eso

son dos-tercios de sus días, cinco días a la semana. ¿Que hace usted con las ocho horas

que quedan? ¿Hay alguna área en la cual usted desperdicia tiempo que pueda reclamarla para

mejor mayordomía?
