On Pentecost Sunday, we celebrate the coming of the Spirit who

empowers followers of Jesus Christ to proclaim the transforming, re-

deeming love of God that makes the impossible possible! The Pente-

cost Offering will be received at Hilton June 3. It provides a direct

way to meet the needs of children at risk, youth and young

adults.

Congregations are encouraged to keep 40% of the Offering to

support ministries with children, youth, and young adults at

risk in their local communities. When you give to the Pentecost

Offering, you help bring God’s transforming, redeeming love to children

at risk, guide and nurture young people’s growing faith, and provide op-

portunities for young adults to become spiritual leaders—all in the name of

Jesus Christ.

PEVA congregations send 60% of the offering to PEVA. PEVA’s share his-

torically is 10%, to support ministries that provide services and education for children,

youth and young adults at risk in our local communities (within the bounds of

PEVA). PEVA’s Peacemaking Committee is tasked with the disbursement of these funds.

The remaining funds are sent to General Assembly. General Assembly’s portion of the offering provides

leadership development opportunities for Presbyterian youth and young adults and supports children-at-risk programs

at the national level.

Committee and the Session Size and

Administration Committee

The Transition Team members Melissa Goodson, Sam Endicott, Andy Con-

nor and Jennifer Brown were charged by Session to assist Hilton in finding

and supporting an Intentional Interim Pastor. This kind of pastor holds a

unique place in the journey of a church. They are called to provide the

preaching, pastoral care, and administrative oversight similar to a called pas-

tor, but also—and most importantly—are called to help a church renew and

reclaim their own call to ministry in the community. By the policies of Presby-

tery, Hilton cannot call its next permanent pastor until we have prayerfully,

thoughtfully and, we hope, joyfully articulated our own vision of where we

want to be in the future. We have been busy interviewing, checking refer-

ences, and listening to sermons of interim candidates and hope to be able to

propose a candidate to Session in the next few weeks. In the meantime, we

are delighted that the Rev. Sam McPhail will be supplying the pulpit for most

of the Sundays until our Interim Pastor arrives.

We are all ministers to each other, and during this time are especially called

to care for each other. Support our church family during this time by commu-

nicating needs to the church office, attending worship, cheerfully giving finan-

cially, and giving of your time.
