The Young Marketers competition was held with a record breaking number of 14 teams participating this year on the 10 th of May. The award ceremony was held on 13 th May at the VIP Lounge of SLIM in the presence of the Jury and the Council. The winners, Team Fonterra won the opportunity to go to the CANNES YOUNG MARKETERS FESTIVAL in France. Board Pack were adjudged the 1st runner up. Nestle were the 2 nd Runners up.

The 2019 Effie Awards Press Conference was held on the 28 th of May at the Hilton Residences (Jaic) with an outstanding number of participants which was followed by the announcement of the sponsors who will be partnering with SLIM Effie this year.

The Participants workshop was followed the next day on the 29 th of May 2019 at the premises of SLIM where the participants were informed on the new changes to submitting their entries and new categories.

SLIM Business Schools (Colombo, Kandy & Matara) encompasses all Security measures to combat threats to all our students and property in the SLIM Educational environment.

A two-day tailor-made planning skills workshop for Lanka Hospitals Diagnostics was held on the 11th and 26th of May @ SLIM Home, Colombo.

A one day in-house workshop on Customer Service for Lanka Hospitals Corporation will be held on the 12th May @ Fingara Town and Country Club, Rajagiriya.

A one day in-house workshop on Positive Thinking and Market Strategies was conducted on the 11th May for Wijaya Products at their office in Dodangoda, Kalutara.

The Public workshops on Effective channel and Distribution management & Better ROI through Social Media Advertising were held on 22nd & 23rd May respectively. Effective channel and Distribution management was delivered by Neville Perera and Sanjeewa Samarasinghe while Better ROI through Social Media Advertising was delivered by top three speakers Dulith Herath, Umair Wolid and Safwaan Hussain.

The 41st President of SLIM and the newly appointed Council of Management officially visited SLIM Matara Branch recently to strategize new opportunities in the Southern Province.

The Area Level contest of Area J2 Division J took place at the auditorium of Virtusa (Pvt) Ltd. with the participation of winners of Club Level contest of Virtusa Toastmasters Club, Kotahena Toastmasters Club and SLIM toastmasters Club. T. M. Deiana Fernando won 1st place in the International Speech contest and Kolitha Rathnayake the third Place. TM Nicholas Alexander was champion in Tabletopics contest whereas T. M. Hasfan Jailan became the 1st runner-up.

The International speech contest and Tabletopic contest was held at SLIM Business School with a full house of toastmasters of various clubs. Amongst the eminent contestants in the international speech contest T. M Deina Fernando emerged the winner of the international speech contest while Kolitha Rathnayake was the first runner-up and Sachith Peris the second runner-up. In the Table Topics contest Nicholas Alexander was ranked 1st, Hasfan Jailan 2nd and Kolitha Rathnayake as 3rd.

The open day of Certificate in Services Marketing was held on 12th May at SLIM Business School Colombo in the presence of Ms. Kavi Rajapaksha, Head of Marketing at Softlogic Life Insurance PLC, Mr. Suranjith Swaris, President SLIM and Mr. Roshan Fernando, Vice President - Education.
