protection, and strength for the rights of workers. Beyond that, thousands of people will march nationwide and across theglobe. Locally, the peaceful march will start at the MexicanHeritage Plaza (1700 Alum Rock Avenue, San Jose) at 1 p.m.

This Thursday, May 4 at 6p.m., be sure to check out our 2ndAnnual (Pangalawang) Eastside Entrepin@yers Event, beingheld in partnership with Akbayan SJSU. EastsideEntrepin@yers celebrates API local visionaries, innovators, and creative founders who continue to give back to theircommunities. Shout out to our L.E.A.D Organizer Daniel andhis crew for putting on Eastside Entrepin@yers.

This past month was busy for our small, but mighty, organization. In early-April we enjoyed the 5th Annual FilipinoHeritage Night with the San Jose Sharks, launched our firstPolicy. Politics. & Puto Training on Public Service on Boards &Commissions, and hosted a string of Filipin@cultural/educational workshops with student organizationsthroughout the South Bay.

Late-April also marked the end of Donald Trump’s 100 days asPresident. So far, we are seeing cuts to education, culture andthe arts, social services, and the environment. We are alsoseeing increased military/defense spending. L.E.A.D will workto update all of you on how the federal budget shapes up, aswe know that our local communities will need to remain poisedduring this time. These days for organizers, and communitymembers alike can be stressful. On the bright side, theweather continues to heat up, so gather the barkada and grabsome pulutan. Otherwise, find time for solace and practiceself-care!

Throughout this month, to observe and celebrate APIaccomplishments and achievements locally, please check outour "May Calendar" to see ways that L.E.A.D, the Asian LawAlliance, and other community organizations are highlightingour API histories and contributions here, in America.
