The school year is quickly coming to a close! During April we completed our registration process for next year for all current

students and 5th grade students who will be joining us next year for 6th grade. If you are positive that you will be moving

prior to the beginning of next school year (August 15, 2016) please let the office know. April was also a big testing month

with SBAC testing being completed and some MAP testing also thrown in. We will be continuing some more MAP testing

for another couple of weeks. Please remind your students to continue to do their very best work throughout the remainder of

school days.

Summer school will again be offered to students in grades 7 – 12 who may be credit deficient. Letters went out to potential

candidates two weeks ago. If you are not sure if your student would be a candidate for summer school, please call the coun-

seling office.

Have a wonderful and safe summer and we will see you in August.

Spring is in the air, which must mean it's time for the 8th grade

semi-formal! “A Starry Night” is the event of the year! All 8th

graders are invited to this spectacular affair--their last dance of

middle school! The semi-formal is Friday, May 6th, from 6-9 pm at

the Douglas County Rec Center. The cost is $15 per student and all

food and drinks are included--even the chocolate fountain! (Photos

are an additional cost.) Students can check out pictures of appropri-

ate semi-formal attire that are posted around campus. If you have

any questions, please email Mrs. Higman at [email protected]

Attention, Parents! Leadership is in need of food and/or drink donations for the 8th grade semi-formal. Possible

suggestions include finger foods (lil' smokies, meatballs, taquitos, etc.); veggie or fruit trays; chips/salsa; baked

goods or sweets (cookies, brownies, etc.); chocolate fountain items (fruit, pretzels, marshmallows, etc.); drinks

(lemonade, punch, but no soda, please!). We appreciate your consideration and generosity in making this event a

fabulous night for all 8th graders! If you have any questions, please email Mrs. Higman at

[email protected]. Thank you!

Non-Discrimination Policy

The Douglas County School District Board of Trustees sup-

ports equal educational opportunity for students free from

discrimination based upon race, color, religion, sex, sexual

orientation, disability, or national origin (Board Policy No.

103). This concept of equal opportunity serves as a guide

for staff in making decisions relating to school facilities;

and selection of educational materials, equipment, curricu-

lum, and regulations affecting students. In support of this

policy and in compliance with the requirements of federal

law, no student will be required to attend mandatory meet-

ings solely based on the student’s race, color, religion, sex,

sexual orientation, disability, or national origin. ARE YOU MOVING THIS SUMMER?

If you move over the summer,

please call our office and leave your

new address and phone number if applicable. The post

office will not forward school mail.

Thank you.

CONGRATULATIONS to Danielle Campbell for a

well deserved “Teacher of the Year” award and to
