First it is unfortunate that Norm and Nancy Olson haven’t been able to join us at the last few rally’s as we really enjoyed their company on the rolling rally to Goshen last year. That said I am thankful that Norm happened to be in the same RV Park as John and Dwayla Carr (Nor Cal Members). And asked them to deliver the esteemed “T” award to me just in case it was needed. Well it wasn’t but a few hours after I got the “T” back before Scott and Susan Rose arrived and in their hast to get to lunch somehow extended their slides only to rearrange the configu- ration or should I say angle of the lamp post that the park apparently placed too close to their coach. Thank you Roses for the material to get the rally off to a great start! The “Western Regional Rally” --“Ships of Fools” rally turned out to be a blast! President’s MessageHey So Cal,

I hope this letter find you all well and enjoying life!

A good part of this newsletter will also be found in the national ACA magazine. I wanted to add a few So Cal Specific items.

Con-

Hemet RallySo as you can see the three chapters all kicked in to make it a great success. I can’t wait until next year when we will be led by Fred and Stella Sotelo of South West Chapter for 2017.

I do have some sad news to report as we lost two of our members, George Thomas and Charlie Miller. Our thoughts and prayers are with their families as they continue their journey without their loved ones.

What’s next you ask???

May 6th & 9th the Rose’s and the Clapper’s will be hosting the “Mother’s Day Rally” plenty of good food and a super Mother’s day brunch. At Pechanga RV Resort and Casino.

There are several So Cal Members looking to head east to Myrtle Beach for the Spring Rally May 9th – 24th if anyone is interested in a rolling rally. Check with Ray Lamb or Tom Jordahl. June and July are open and available if anyone wants find a place to put together a rally? Please let me know.

WINE Now that I have your attention! August 4th – 8th So Cal will be having a rally at the Wine Country RV Resort in Paso Robles, Ca. hosted by the Scott’s, Gottliebs’s & McLorn’s.

August 22nd-27th we will be heading north for the Fall National Rally at Seven Feathers RV Resort and Casino in Canyonville, OR. NorCal President Skip Deter and his team are hard at work to make this a great rally.

October 5th -9th we have roughly 60 plus coaches signed up for the International Balloon Fiesta Rally in Albuquerque. This is a joint effort of So Cal, Southwest, NorCal/North West & GLC. Bill Dettmer is our fearless leader.

Many Thanks to all that make American Coach Association a great group to be a part of!

Travel safe,

Bob ClapperPresident

Mother’s Day Rally At the “No Rain” rally held at the Wildomar-Lake Elsinore Elk’s Lodge parking lot , 14 American Coaches attended a weekend So Cal Chapter rally. A few arrived early but most arrived on Thurs-day, February 25th. It took some special steering abilities; however, Gary Adams was able to align all 14 of our big motorhomes into their respective spaces. The weather cooperated in true form with the rally’s name – “NO RAIN”.

On Thursday we enjoyed appetizers and our beverages around the Wildomar-Lake Elsinore “Mixed Nuts” chuck wagon. Everyone caught up on family, travels, etc. Friday we played the “Monkey Golf” game managed by Willie Morris. The winners were Tom Jordahl and Bob (Janet Mc-Lorn’s brother). Everyone laughed and many were very competitive. In fact we had rematches in Hemet at the Western Regional Rally in Hemet.

Friday evening several couples from the Mixed Nuts made us a delicious taco dinner. It turned out great. Everyone had plenty to eat!! Saturday morning the crew returned and made us each a made-to-order breakfast. The So Cal Chapter held its meeting after break-fast was served. The normal meeting agenda was covered in addition to introducing the new “Turkey” award. Pretty much we will need to be extra careful so that we don’t have to wear the Turkey Hat – Yikes!

On Saturday evening we all participated and enjoyed a steak dinner at the VFW Post 1508. The Adams’ invited their sons with their wives and everyone had a blast, dancing, karaoke, lots of adult beverages and way more food than most could digest.

Sunday arrived so quickly and it was time for us to leave. Wishing everyone safe travels and hop-ing to see everyone at the Western Regional Rally in Hemet.

NO RAIN RALLY!

Becky and I just returned from the Mother’s Day Rally at Pechanga RV Resort and are still basking in the glow of a good time surrounded by family and friends.

Susan and Scott Rose did an outstanding job on this rally, with little assistance from The Clappers. The rally included great food (and lots of it), fun games (tons of laughter), lots of family, and a perfect Mother’s Day Brunch. The first night all of us brought appetizers to share and then enjoyed a casual chili dog din-ner. Finishing off that first night, Susan and Scott introduced many of us to the easiest dice game in the world – Left, Right, Center. Lots of hootin’ and hollerin’ and laughter occurred with many of us recouping our entry fee.

Chapter Meeting: Saturday again found us eating, starting with a light breakfast, fol-lowed by our Chapter meeting. You can review the minutes of the meeting in this issue, but the highlights included: Reminder - dues are coming up in June (there are 58 of us who need to re-up) and postcards will be sent out as a reminder by Treasurer Brianne Brissette. The Western Regional Rally held in Hemet was a blast and many of us raised our hand signifying we would be happy to return to the Golden Vil-lage Palms for another rally. Fred and Stella Sotelo will be responsible for organizing the Western Regional rally next year.

August 4 – 8 This the rally at Wine Country RV Resort, which is located off of Highway 46. And most importantly, get your reservations in now for the National Rally scheduled for Au-gust 22 – 27th at the 7 Feathers Resort in Can-yonville, OR. Reservations have been made for 125 spaces and it will help in the organization process to know how many guests will attend. There is an opportunity for any of you traveling

to the Balloon Fiesta to pop in and out (or just pop in and stay) with the easy, slow caravan to the Balloon Fiesta Rally from the 7 Feathers/National Rally. Meaning there is no set agenda for the caravan and you make your own res-ervations. For further details on this caravan, contact Pat Adams.

And speaking of rallies, Mary and Lanny Wil-son along with Norma and Jerry Dunn are hosting a rally March 23 – 26, 2017 at Indian Waters Resort in Indio – stay tuned! We have plenty of time between now and August for another rally, so feel free to volunteer and host a rally. Remember you won’t be doing it alone as there are always plenty of volunteers to help out during the rally.

Back to the Rally: That same day, the ladies (and some of the men) enjoyed a presentation by Thirty-One Bags. Along with snacks and champagne, the ladies enjoyed learning about all of the options available for totes, bags and purses. Thirty-One Bags is not just about sell-ing a product, they are also a company dedi-cated to empowering women of all ages. That evening, after a catered Mexican din-ner, Pat Adams pulled out her list of unique questions for the continuing series of “getting to (really) know our married couples.” The victims…I mean participants this time included Don and Mary Ferderer, Joe and Debbie Darby, and guests of Susan and Scott Rose (daughter and son-in-law) – Stephanie and Kenny Friedeu. To say the responses pro-vided side-splitting laughter is putting it mildly. Oh my! Highlights – earthquake in Michigan and “kiss me with your soft Scott lips”. I’m still laughing.

Sunday was the Mother’s Day Brunch where Continued on Page 7

AMERICAN COACH ASSOCIATION SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA CHAPTER

Minutes from meeting of May 7 2016WELCOME

Southern California Chapter President, Bob Clapper opened the meeting at 10:10 a.m. at the Pechanga RV Resort – Mother’s Day Rally. Officer’s present: Bob Clapper, President; Ken Brummett, Vice President; Brianne Brissette, Treasurer; and Pat Adams, Secre-tary.Bob welcomed our new members; Greg & Lisa Gei-ger with their daughter, Melissa and Lisa’s mother, Sharon. He thanked the Roses’ for hosting this rally.

SECRETARY REPORT:The meeting minutes from the February were previ-ously approved and there wasn’t a meeting in Hemet therefore, no new meeting minutes were read.

TREASURER’S REPORT:Brianne reported we had 82 members and reminded members that annual dues need to be paid by June 30th. Reminder post cards will be sent to those who have a due date of this year. Our operating balance is $2845.Ben Petty made a motion, seconded by Gary Adams to approve the Treasurer’s report. Passed unanimous-ly.

OLD BUSINESS:Ken Brummett reported that the 3-Chapter Western Regional Rally was a success. Everyone had a great time. A decision was made to share the responsibil-ity of the hosting chapters. Therefore the SouthWest Chapter, Fred Sotelo volunteered (haha) to host it in 2017. Location has yet to be determined. A reminder that National ACA supports the Western Regionals by $1000., which offsets the cost of the regional rallies. The next SoCal rally is August 4 – 8, 2016 at the Wine Country RV in Paso Robles. 6 Sign ups have been received to date. Al Gottlieb may be arranging a wine tour as an option. He was reminded that J. Lohr winery came to a rally previously to have a wine pair-ing – he will investigate that option too.Bob reminded everyone of the Fall National rally in August which will be held at the Seven Feather Ca-sino RV Resort in Canyonville, Oregon. The signups are slow and encouraged anyone planning to attend to please send in their registration ASAP. Bob will most likely arrange a two-day rolling rally to Oregon. Pat Adams spoke of the plans to go to Clio right after the Wine Country rally with a stopover in Lodi at Flag

City RV, and bridging this with the Fall National. A group will also continue traveling from Oregon through several stops before joining up at the Balloon Fiesta in October. More information will be shared via an email blast. Bob spoke about the planned Balloon Fiesta in Albu-querque in October 2016. Approximately 60 signed up with 2 recent cancellations. The first stop will probably be Park Moabie October 2nd and Black Bart’s on Octo-ber 3rd. With an overnight at Holbrook, AZ the night before (October 4th) the Balloon Fiesta as a meeting point prior to entering the festival as they want us to be in groups of 5 or so rather than a large group going in at one time. Radios will be used to communicate with one another to be sure we park in the correct area together. Two spaces have been rented to use for our meals and socials during the rally. It was reported that Lanny & Mary Wilson will host March 23 -26, 2017 at the Indian Waters resort in Indio. Bob asked for any volunteers to host a rally. Spoke of the possibility of a Holiday rally. This may be an option later this calendar year. Turkey Award: Don Federer shared his story about a tow bar mishap that could be “turkey” award worthy. Scott Rose reported be careful as you are always being watched to find a candidate for this prestigious award.

NEW BUSINESS:There are a lot of leftover hot dogs if anyone wants to have any; help yourself. NOTE: Bob Clapper barbequed some dogs for lunch. Reminder that there is a “Thirty One” bag party today at 2:00 p.m. Susan Rose asked everyone to bring their own utensils tonight. Games are scheduled for tonight and tomorrow afternoon there will be several lawn games; Monkey Golf and Baseball. Beverly Petty will take over the editorship of the News-letter. Don Ferderer has done an outstanding job and was thanked by all.Meeting adjourned by motion of Ben Petty, seconded by Joe Darby and Gary Adams at 10:55 a.m.

Respectfully submitted,

Pat AdamsSecretary

the men served our ladies a delicious brunch which included Bloody Marys and Mimosas. Thanks to Ken Brummett, Don Ferderer, Jerry Scott and Scott Rose for serving and bar tending. We let that settle a bit and that afternoon had a rousing competition of ladder golf (winning team – Beverly Petty and Gary Adams) and board baseball. Team A won baseball which included Pat Adams, Debbie Darby, Greg Geiger, Stella Sotelo, Howard, Brianne and Kendall Brissette, Becky Clapper, Rosalie Owens…(anyone I missed?). All of the winners were awarded a whopping $20 each for their athletic abilities – SCORE! and a little Hot Dog lunch to top it off.

And finally the night ended with the grilling event of the season (so far). Where yours truly grilled hot links, chicken, and tri-tip. That feast of meat went with bread, beans, mac and cheese, salad and ice cream sundaes for a wonderful ending for such a fun day.

Monday morning found most of us heading back home as we anticipate getting back together this summer in either Paso Robles, Clio, or at the big kahuna – 7 Feathers, Canyonville, Oregon.

See you soon!

Bob Clapper
