As always the Kids Club will be open and fully supervised by our friendly staff at the RSL Club from 6pm to 10pm. No prior bookings can be made but feel free to pop in on the night, keeping in mind that numbers are restricted.

NEW RSL CLUB PRESIDENTMembers, as you may be aware I have been given the honour and privilege to have been appointed your President, following the retirement of John Keyes from the Board.

Firstly, allow me to sincerely thank John for his tremendous contribution to our organisation, and in particular his last 8 years as our President. John has worked tirelessly to ensure that the Clubs we enjoy attending, continue to prosper and provide the facilities of which we have become accustomed. We all wish John and Margaret a very happy and relaxed retirement as they join their two daughters and families in South Eastern Queensland.

It would be remiss of me not to also thank our other retiring Director, Foot Porter who leaves us after some seven years of service to the Board. Foot has been a wise contributor in shaping the future of our Clubs, particularly using his knowledge as a very successful operator of Foodworks Lake Albert, and his vast experience in the hotel industry. We wish Foot and Deb continued success in their business, as well as Foot’s beloved South City Leagues Club, over which he Presides.

Your Board will be appointing two Directors to replace John and Foot shortly. Under our constitution those Directors and two current Directors will then nominate for those positions, when nominations are called for prior to the October, 2015 Annual General Meeting.

We are delighted that members, who frequent either Club, now have the opportunity to enjoy the fine catering provided by Matt, Lauren and their team. From your response over the last two months it seems that our Caterers are going to be kept very busy.

Your Board and Senior Management attended a Strategy meeting two months ago, and as a result there are some exciting changes to come. Initially the RSL Club Café will undergo a complete refurbishment in the coming months.

Our Memorial to remember the ANZAC Centenary was officially blessed on Thursday 23rd of April. Please take time to observe this tribute from the Club and Sub Branch to those who paid the supreme sacrifice.

Once again thank you for the privilege you have bestowed upon me. It is difficult (well impossible really) to know all of our 23,000 Members, so if you see me in either Club, please say hello.

SUPPORTING WAGGA KIDSAthletes from Southern Sports Academy converged on the Central Coast in April for the staging of the Clubs NSW Academy Games. A group of 46 athletes and 15 coaches and squad managers represented the Academy at the Games this year. Two netball teams, 3 golfers and two basketball teams competed in the Games, going up against talented athletes from across the state.

The Wagga RSL Club are continuing to support the Southern Sports Academy by helping the Southern Sports Academy’s participation in the Games through subsidising the costs associated with attending the Games.

“The support of the Wagga RSL Club has been tremendous and has relieved the substantial financial burden that is associated with our athletes attending the Games, especially in a high cost region such as the Central Coast during a school holiday period. Their sponsorship has really made a huge impact - some of our athletes may not have been able to attend the Games without this support. Now they are in a position to showcase their talents amongst some of the best young athletes in the state and in front of NSW selectors,” Executive Director, Southern Sports Academy, Greg McLay said.
