Mother’s Day Flower Project
Trinity’s Children will be accepting donations this year for the adornment of the altar on Mother’s Day.
(DEADLINE: Monday, May 6, 2013)
Placed by: In Honor In Memory
STEWARDSHIP UPDATE For the month of April, contributions from our congregation to the General Fund were $25,400.00. For the first four months of 2013,
contributions to the general fund have totaled $104,003.00. This represents 31% of the total budget of $337,155.00 and compares with
$100,386.00 contributed in the first four months of 2012. Ideally, we would like to have had approximately 33% of the budget (or
$110,223.00) contributed by this time in the year. Though contributions are short of where they need to be, we are trying to make every
effort not spend more than is contributed. It is from the General Fund, that salaries are paid, programs and ministries are underwritten, and
all the things that keep our facility open and operating are done. All known bills and obligations, includes Morristown District obligations,
are up to date with the exception of Holston Conference and denominational obligations which have not been paid so far this year- and
approximately $10,039.00 is due.
During this season in which we celebrate the resurrection of our Lord, this is a wonderful time to evaluate our giving and whether it reflects a
tithe (10%) of our income and our gratitude to the Lord for all He has given us. If you are behind in what you had planned to contribute or
are able to contribute more than originally planned, now is an excellent time to reflect a heart of generosity.
DURING MAY, LET US IMAGINE NO MALARIA!
Imagine No Malaria is a $75 million effort of The United Methodist Church to eliminate malaria deaths in Africa by 2015.
Achieving this goal will require a comprehensive approach to fighting this disease, on a larger scale than all previous efforts. To
truly overcome malaria we must continue to support the most effective prevention methods, but also improve education about the
disease, help establish community-based malaria control programs, conduct communications outreach through radio and
revitalize hospitals and clinics to improve treatment across the African continent.
More than 90 percent of the one million malaria deaths each year occur in sub-Saharan Africa. One in five children who dies
before age five will die of malaria. Malaria was eliminated in the United States in the 1950s, but it remains a serious health issue
across the globe, particularly in developing African countries. The United Methodist Church has been operating hospitals and
clinics across Africa for more than 160 years, allowing us to reach the most remote areas, providing care and treatment where
people need it most.
With your help, this is a fight we can win! The Holston Annual Conference has a goal of raising $1,000,000 for this initiative. If each church would contribute $10 per
member, we would be well on our way to meet the goal. Is $5,350.00 ($10.00 per member) a reasonable goal for Trinity? On
May 19 and 26, you will have the opportunity to hear about and contribute to this initiative in both worship services. Please plan
to give generously if you are able. Thanks to a generous grant from the United Nations Foundation that will pay for all administra-
tive costs of Imagine No Malaria, one hundred percent of contributions to this ministry will go to the fight against malaria.
JOIN US FOR THE MAY PRAYER WALK We need your help as we reach out to the neighbors of our church. On Saturday, May 18, we will gather at the church at 11:00AM
and hit the streets of the neighborhoods surrounding our church for three purposes: 1)Meet our neighbors who might be outdoors
that day 2) Pass out invitations to the "Birthday of the Church" (which we call Pentecost) which have been wonderfully prepared
by our children, and 3) Do some prayer walking in the neighborhood as we pray for the homes and families of our neighbors. We
will take only about an hour for this and the more participants we have, the wider will be our reach- so be sure to join us. If it is
inclement weather, we will postpone this until another day.
COMMUNION SETS GIFTED IN MEMORY OF MARY SUE EVERHART
Each month, several volunteers share communion with our shut-ins. This is made possible by a gift of two portable communion
sets by the Greene County Veteran’s Association and Sandra Ricker & Elizabeth Bible in loving memory of Mary Sue Everhart.
Mary Sue was the long-time treasurer of this organization and a dedicated Trinity member.
