When I began my Mary Kay business twenty-one years ago, I knew that achieving my Power Start

was the only way I would build much needed confidence and skill to become successful. My first skin

care class I had ZERO sales! In my second class I sold less than one dollar! I was then encouraged

when I read Mary Kay Ash’s book “The Mary Kay Way”.

Here are her words:

“I failed miserably at my very first Mary Kay skin care class. I wanted to make my first show a huge

success. But I sold a grand total of $1.50. When I left, I drove around the corner, put my head on the

steering wheel, and cried. Bursts of fear flashed through my mind. My initial reaction was to

doubt...I worried because my lifetime savings were tied up in this company. Yes, I failed, and for a

few brief moments, I was fearful. But I LEARNED from that failure. I REFUSED TO GIVE UP, and

I failed forward to success. Life is a series of many attempts and many failures before we realize we

So I pressed on, and my third skin care class was over FOUR HUNDRED DOLLARS!!

I am so thankful that our mentor Mary Kay Ash was a woman who truly LED THE WAY...stay close

to her teachings in both her life story “ Miracles Happen” and the above mentioned book, and you will

My favorite book so far this year: THE 4:8 PRINCIPLE by Tommy Newberry. Some of the great

“nuggets” in this book include “whatever you dwell upon becomes increasingly prominent in your own

mind,” and “God created us with a capacity for great joy!” Mr. Newberry tells us “the secret conversations

you hold in the privacy of your own mind are shaping your destiny, little by little”. Chapter titles include:

Embracing your God-Given Identity...Starving your Negative Emotions...How to Junk-Proof your

Mind ...Living with Gratitude...How to Avoid the R.A.T.s (REALLY AWFUL THOUGHTS!) and much,
