Rite of Christian Initiation of AdultsWe have reached the end of the current RCIA session. Through the summer, we will be meeting with adults who are interested in learning about the Catholic Church and making plans for the coming session beginning in September. If you know someone, perhaps a family member, co-worker, friend, who is interested in learning more about the Catholic Church and Her teachings, contact Sister Doris now to discuss possibilities. RCIA is open, and recommended, for all adults interested in learning more, or updating your knowledge of the Catholic faith, and for renewing your commitment to Christ and His Church. We cover a wide variety of foundational teachings beginning in September and continuing into the Easter Season.
Family Formation Family Formation has come to an end for this school year. We covered many topics, including the Mass, Creed, the sacraments of Baptism and Confirmation, Vocations, Ten Commandments, Eucharistic Adoration, Mary, and more. Our Family Formation program combines children’s faith formation and adult faith formation for parents. It is a great way for parents to refresh their faith while experiencing presentations on the same topics as their children. This program is for families whose children attend any of our public/private/home schools, Pre K-6th grade. Child care is provided for children younger than 3.
Children’s Religious Education VBS This summer, instead of our usual Summer Session of Religious Education, we will be offering a Vacation Bible School, June 18-22. Enroll your children online at cccparish.org/vbs Adults and teen volunteers, contact Sister Doris if you would like to help with VBS.

Everyday StewardshipMy youngest son has occasional bouts with asthma. When it hits him, he feels like he is almost drowning, gasping for air. It is a terrible thing to think about, suffocating with no option for air. Luckily, an inhaler opens up that which was closed and air comes rushing back inside his lungs. The Latin words "spiritus" and "spirare" mean "breath" and "to breathe." It is how we get the word "spirit" and the name, "Holy Spirit," for it is the Spirit in us that gives us breath. Some describe the Spirit as that which provides life and animation to all living things, a life force of sorts. In essence, we live and breathe the Spirit all around us. I have to admit, that is not as concrete an explanation of the Holy Spirit as I would like. But what I do know is that when the Spirit came upon them at Pentecost, they were undeniably changed and a force came through them that they recorded like a "strong driving wind." This enabled them to proclaim the good news in a way that was previously impossible. When I see my son trying so hard to breathe, it is like someone or something has robbed him of his spirit, or the Spirit, and he has to struggle. When his ability to breathe is returned to him, he is well again and able to accomplish anything he sets his mind to do. If we were more mindful of our breathing as the Holy Spirit moving through us, I think we would act much differently than we do sometimes. We would be better stewards and just better people. On this Pentecost, may the Spirit that you breathe in each and every day fill your heart and soul with the desire to do great things and do them well! Tracy Earl Welliver, MTS

For the next few months we will be welcoming many visitors among us here at Corpus Christi. Some will be here to visit KU, some will be on vacation or maybe camping out at the lake. There are those who will just be here for the day as their kids play in tournaments around the city, and those who will be here for a time as they visit family and friends. To all of our visitors we say “WELCOME!” We hope that your time with us is enjoyable and that you find a friendly face here in our community. We encourage you to join fully in the liturgy by your prayer and your singing. If you are here on a Sunday morning, please come and join us for a doughnut, a cup of coffee or a glass of orange juice, we would love to say “Hello.” As a community we do not leave the liturgy early and we encourage you to stay with us to sing the closing hymn. We hope you will introduce yourselves to us and let our pastors know that you are a visitor here. Enjoy your time among our community.
Corpus on Facebook! You can now find all the information about our community you need in one spot on social media! Make sure to head over to the OFFICIAL Corpus Christi Catholic Church Facebook page and give it a like! Check back often for updates from all of our ministries, school and all the happenings of our Corpus Community. www.facebook.com/corpuschristicommunity. Need something posted to our Facebook page? All you need to do is head to the link below and fill out the form. Once approved, we will get it posted for you. www.cccparish.org/fbrequest.
Special Needs EntrancePlease remember that the Special Needs Entrance to the church is reserved for those who cannot come through the normal entrance of the church. Sometimes it is age, maybe a recent surgery or a new baby. If you do not have a good reason to use these doors, please use the entrance that passes by the baptismal font. Staying away from these doors if they are not necessary for you and your family will allow those who need a little extra help a level of comfortability in the church. THANK YOU!
Commons
Construction
Update
The Commons building will have an exterior mosaic that depicts the Resurrection. The mosaic will be prominently visible from George Williams Way and will face the church building. Symbolism: The Resurrected Christ stands in triumph—one hand held in triumph, the other hand holds a standard with the Banner of Victory. The Palm Branch represents Christ’s triumphal entry into Jerusalem and symbolizes victory over death and the Resurrection. The building is expected to be complete by summer’s end.
For Christians, the Feast of Pentecost commemorates the day on which Jesus’ disciples received the Holy Spirit. Pentecost is celebrated fifty days after Easter Sunday, with the coming of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles and their followers, and the beginning of their earthly ministry to make disciples of all nations. A sign of the Spirit’s unity was given on that Pentecost Day when the Spirit descended upon the disciples in the form of tongues of fire and each were filled with the Holy Spirit. The passage in Acts tells us that Jews from many different countries who had gathered in Jerusalem to celebrate Pentecost all heard in their own language what the Spirit proclaimed through the disciples and over three thousand Jews were converted and baptized. The miracle is not that each person heard what was proclaimed in his/her own language but that each individual heard the word of God spoken to him or her directly. The Spirit prompts each of us to hear God’s word to be one with Jesus who is one with the Father. It is through this relationship that we become one with each other. God is the one who chooses us in the Spirit. Pentecost is a time for each of us to hear God’s personal invitation to live a baptized life. The question is whether we will respond to His message or will His message be drowned out by the languages of the world that we are accustomed to hearing on a daily basis. It is important to remember that as St. Paul said in his letter to the Corinthians, that as the Holy Spirit dwells in each of us (1 Cor 3:16), it is crucial for our salvation that we listen to Him. We are asked to confide in the Spirit and ask for help and guidance through prayer. Prayers to the Holy Spirit can aid us to be more Christ-like and can help us listen to His Spirit in our hearts. Even though our journey may not be as fast as the disciples was, prayers to Him can help each of us listen to Christ’s guidance through His Spirit!
O Lord Jesus Christ, Who, before ascending into heaven,
didst promise to send the Holy Ghost to finish Thy work in the souls of Thy Apostles and Disciples,
deign to grant the same Holy Spirit to me, that He may perfect in my soul the work of Thy grace and Thy love.
Grant me the Spirit of Wisdom that I may despise the perishable things of this world
and aspire only after the things that are eternal,
the Spirit of Understanding to enlighten my mind with the light of Thy divine truth,
the Spirit of Counsel that I may ever choose the surest way of pleasing God and gaining Heaven,
the Spirit of Fortitude that I may bear my cross with Thee,
and that I may overcome with courage all the obstacles that oppose my salvation,
the Spirit of Knowledge that I may know God and know myself and grow perfect in the science of the Saints,
the Spirit of Piety that I may find the service of God sweet and amiable,
the Spirit of Fear that I may be filled with a loving reverence towards God, and may dread in any way to displease Him.
Mark me, dear Lord, with the sign of Thy true disciples and animate me in all things with Thy Spirit. Amen.
