Hello once again. As production keeps moving onthe highway expansion. We are now driving on thenew bridge crossing over the Bay. There will still beplenty of work taking place as they repair and

upgrade the part we have been driving on. I hope they realize how high the water level of

the bay can get with just gusty winds. We have been fortunate not to have had any seri-ous hurricane weather or damage such as for almost 10yrs now.

While I was at the Naval Base in Panama City last week. I spoke to a few Vietnam vet-erans that was in the waiting area. Several of them view the Newspaper online and saythey wish they had a Newspaper who would be straight forward and not confusing. Theyare impressed with my willingness to say it like it i s or as I perceive it to be. They say thatfrom my writings over the years that I am also a Military Veteran. I assume its becausewhen you serve in the Military you are raised up with honor, respect and will defend OLDGLORY at any cost. If you never been in the Military (any branch), you have no idea towhat we were trained to do. What we were taught in self-defense. How we are eventually

proven to be worthy to being an American. That is what we need to rise up and conquer!

The one thing I took from all of our discussions is how upset deep down most of usveterans are about the way this country is heading. We have watched the last 2 decades towatch our own govt. become reckless and untrust-worthy at all levels. Most of us feel thatthe draft will be important in the next year for we are in a War that has now ended up onour soil. They are here, and we are not prepared to the degree that this Nation used to beaccountable for. There have been too many threats made against us if Hillary becomes

president. Russian leader Putin has quoted, War will be inevitable if she is elected.Whats sad about that is that the majority who may vote for this unworthy, lying, criminalto even be eligible to run for such a position. Those democrat voters must not care toomuch about us being in War, thousands upon thousands will perish with her underhanddeceitful dealings with countries who kill, rape and behead women and children. TheClinton foundation is a scam although the $1.3 billion they just accepted from the Saudisdont make us any safer here at home. They have plans to use nuclear warfare upon us.

You cannot trust them. No more than you make deals with Iran.

When we joined the Military, we all were kids. Unknown places, strange faces. Noticingonly the uniform. If it was what you wore, "don't shoot". If it was different "you unloadgun on them". No matter who's face is in it. The picture such as you see so many Vietnamstill photos and movies. As kids of 18-20 we did things for our country not many peopleof today, would ever risk they lives to do. Killing the bad, to make it safe for us all. WEwere the reason that no country would even mention the USA, if it was going to involveus. There would be Hell to pay! Chances are your place may be blown to hell. Don't mess

    with the USA.

Wouldn't it be interesting if they force the draft, they can register every male and fe-

male. whatever you are. And at the same time you'll know who is illegally here. A Muslimfighting for US would not be safe because of the possibilities of the ties to the Devil's who

want us all DEAD. Doesnt seem to be worth the risk from within. Spies and thieves?

Every WAR had it's purpose until we started to go fight in the dam desert, goat molesterswere happy raping whomever, beheading babies and shit.....Then we offer them half ourmilitary for what? To later have a MUSLIM as President? Even though as scandalous hislegal right was to being properly qualified to be a president. No one fought those fakedocuments hard enough before he should have ever been electable. Are we going to makethe same mistake with Hillary? We cannot afford to trust her, period. She should already

be in Prison. She has plans, bad deals already made. This must not happen!

If you truly Bleed RED, WHITE and BLUE, only then after you served your time,

(whether WAR time or not) you earned the RESPECT we Military Veteran's feel the waywe do. We Respect them for just being prepared, we were until Bush got us in the DAMdessert of EVIL and despair. Barbaric as the Bible even describes EVIL. We will needto double the number of soldiers, pilots and build it up to double what we were, (prior tothe Dessert Storm). A World of USA dominance= no one would even challenge us. Thatmy friend is being American. Salute us Veteran's, anyone in uniform of the military. Be aProud US American and be ready the storm will get worse then it will be dying off soon. But at what cost? Show pride in being a Legal citizen of this great nation. Lets gather all

illegals and have them prove themselves to being worthy of becoming a Legalized citizen.

Every other nation has begun to force the Muslim Refugees, trouble makers out of theirnation after they have experienced such destruction and safety to the women and childrenof the future. Muslims trying to change peoples way of life? As if surviving this depres-

sion wasnt enough. Take away our rights? Not here, Not now. They have invaded us,Obama has allowed inter seeding camps around this country. The want to meet Allah, let'sget them there faster.........BE proud you are here, because our Military has been giving usthe FREEDOM the last 200 years. We cannot just sit back and wait! You can view myEditorial anytime in the TheEmeraldstarnews.com...SALUTE! Think of ways to make this

country safer, better for our future. Our childrens children. Do you really care? Show it!

New U.S. 331 Bridge across Choctawhatchee Bay Now Open

Construction crews shifted U.S. 331 north and southbound traffic to the newly constructedbridge across Choctawhatchee Bay Monday, May 16. North and southbound traffic willcontinue sharing the new bridge while work is completed to reconstruct the existingroadway approaches. All work on the new 2.4-mile structure is currently slated for

    completion in spring 2017.

State Senator Don Gaetz (R-Niceville) recognized the traffic shift as a significant milestone

for the bridge construction project and the citizens of Walton County.

"For forty years, the people of Walton County and our thousands of visitors have struggledto cross Choctawhatchee Bay for work, for pleasure and to evacuate when storms havethreatened," said Gaetz. "I'm deeply grateful to Governor Scott and my legislativecolleagues from across the state who supported my efforts to appropriate much of thefunding for the expansion of the Clyde B. Wells Bridge. The Florida Department ofTransportation has superbly managed this project. It is a model partnership among local

citizens, county government and the state. I can't wait to drive across it."

The new bridge, combined with two adjoining construction projects that are widening U.S.331 to four travel lanes between the Choctawhatchee Bay and I-10, represent an investmentof more than $194 million in the state's transportation infrastructure. Together theseprojects enhance safety, improve mobility, and support future economic development

potential for Walton County and the surrounding region.

The traffic shift permanently closes the boat launch at the former Wheeler Point Park thatwas located between the new bridge and Bay Grove Road South. The park will be replaced

by a new recreational area beneath the southern approach of the new bridge.

The recreational area will feature a public boat launch, fishing pier, restrooms, observationareas, and free parking spaces. It is scheduled to open at the conclusion of the bridge

    construction project in spring 2017.

All construction activities and planned schedules are weather dependent and may bedelayed or rescheduled in the event of inclement weather. Motorists are reminded to usecaution, especially at night, when traveling in a work zone and to watch for construction

workers and equipment entering and exiting the roadway.

(Shannon Ireland & Josette Rhodes)As I stated in my 1starticle here, not only would I

be spotlighting local noteworthy artists but the venuesthat give life to the music and musicians. I would beremiss not to write on Shannon Ireland & Josette

    Rhodes.

The heart and soul of 30Asongwriterradio.com. I hadthe opportunity to enjoy a coffee and fellowship withthem both at Music and Coffee, the 30a songwriterradio new base of operations beside Publics in Santa

    Rosa Beach.

The concept of 30a songwriter radio Has been alivefor many years supporting local musicians. With theformal launch of 30asongwriterradio.com in Feb.2013, it remains a unique platform for musicians tobe seen and heard. Starting with only an Ipad and anidea, Shannon and Josette created what has become aregional hub for musicians. It didnt take long for thestation to outgrow the living room studio home and

Music and Coffee to open its doors.

When asked about music as a business choice,Josette had this to say, Music chose us. We are bothvery passionate about music, we love it and every-thing has grown out of that. The station is coming upon its 500thartist to perform, so I would have to say it

has been a success. Every artist that walks thru thedoor influences us, every time they share their talents

they share a piece of themselves.

    We honor and appreciate that.

Shannon and Josette are from very differentbackgrounds but together are an unstoppable force inregional music. Charity work, scheduling andworking Music & Coffee plus all the work that goesinto running and maintaining the station, doesntleave them much spare time but I for one am glad

    they do what they do.

Music is an innate language that resonates withineach of us. It is through this universal language, 30asongwriter radio seeks to support and bring together

musicians and music lovers from all corners.

Greetings from the Mayors office.. I would like to start out this message little different than usual in that I would

like to state that I would suggest that when you are quoting information aboutthe city and its leaders that you get all of the correct information before youpublish or spout off about any certain project. I would also like to state that thecity council has the best interest of all of the citizens in making decisionswhatever the topic may be. You may not agree with some of the decisions, but

please let it be known that every consideration is gone into that decision and asyou all know everyone cannot be pleased, so you have to live with the decisionsand hope that is the best answer to the situation at hand. Now that I have said that, I would like to inform you of what is currently taking

    Pentagon Stunned As Thousands Of

    Chinese Troops Enter ISIS War

The Kremlin have announced that China are to send

5,000 of its most elite military forces into the Levant War

Zone to help Russia in the fight against ISIS, which has

left the Obama administration and the Pentagonhorrified.

The Siberian Tiger Special Forces and Night TigerSpecial Forces Units were given authorization to be deployed

by Chinas Peoples Congress (NPC) on Sunday, after Chinapassed its first anti-terrorism law allowing their army to takepart in anti-terror missions abroad. China, an ally of[Syrian leader] Assad has committed more than $30 billion

to postwar reconstruction in Syria. China, too, is worriedabout the Islamic State. China regards the Syrian crisis from

three perspectives: international law and legitimacy; global

strategic positioning; and the activities of jihadist Uighurs,

from Xinjiang province in Chinas far west.

Xinjiang borders eight nationsMongolia, Russia, Kazakh-

stan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Afghanistan, Pakistan and India

and, in Chinas view, serves as a funnel for terrorism

around the world and within China. Many Uighur fighters now in Syria are known to be membersof the East Turkestan Islamic Movementan often violent

separatist organization that seeks to establish an Islamist

Uighur state in Xinjiang. Though the US corporate-propaganda media continues to blackball from the Americanpeople Hershs bombshell article, this report notes, 2015

has become the year Russia exposed the barbaric nature ofWestern powersfrom their criminal conspiracy for regimechange in Syria, to aggression against Yemen, Iran, Russia,China and any country that does not toe the lineand has, also, exposed for the entire world to see that the Obama re-gimes fight against the Islamic State has all been pretended.

    THE WALTON COUNTY ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

ALLIANCE PLANS FOR THE FUTUREThe Walton County Economic Development Alliance (WCEDA) serves as Walton County's drivingeconomic development force for the attraction of incremental investment and creation of family-wagejobs. WCEDA will work to achieve economic diversification, cultivate a business-friendly environ-ment, promote sustainable development, increase community wealth, address infrastructure challengesand improve overall quality of life in Walton County.Currently structured, the WCEDA is an operational and diversified stakeholder organization thatprovides structure and function to the economic endeavors of Walton County through the hiring ofand Executive Director and an appointed and elected Board. The Board consists of mayors from allCounty municipalities, select private sector representatives and a Chairman that rotates based on thecurrent Chairman of the Walton County Board of County Commissioners.

Current WCEDA Board Members: Sara Comander Chairman - Walton County Board of County Commissioners (District 4)

Robert Campbell Mayor of DeFuniak Springs

Russell Barley Mayor of Freeport Hayward Thomas Mayor of Paxton Larry Jones - Walton County Administrator

Steve Wolfrom VP Member Services at CHELCO

Eric Galloway TreasurerFinancial Advisor for Edward Jones

Executive Director Steve Jaeger Recently, Jaeger has announced that he will be retiring at the end of June.As the Board moves forward, Chairman Comander and the board have elected to begin the recruitingand hiring of a new Executive Director, and the group is embarking on a strategic planning review

process for the organization. This new process has begun due to three main factors.1. Retirement of EDA Director2. Ideological and functional changes within the State government as they relate to economicincentives for new business development and decision in the past session of the Legislature not tofund the Governors economic closing fund3. The potential integration funding that will be available through the RESTORE ActComander, with the approval of the Board, has begun a 90 120 day internal review and strategicplanning of the WCEDA which will include the mission, goals and objectives of the WCEDA for thefuture. In addition, the Board has approved moving forward with the recruitment of a new ExecutiveDirector for the organization. As part of the process, Comander has also directed an internal team, led by Walton County RESTORE

Act Coordinator Bill Williams, to provide assistance with the opportunities related to funding fromDeepwater Horizon Oil Spill and BP Settlement and to work towards strategically maximizing theseunique funding opportunities and the connectivity to the municipalities.Historically, the availability and obtaining of State and Local incentives have been based on thedevelopment and recruiting of new business. With these new funding avenues, Walton County is nowpoised to integrate this funding availability to leverage funds and maximize not only the developmentof new business, but to provide opportunities to existing businesses to expand.Additionally, the organization has begun working towards providing a uniform permitting process toassist with eliminating current planning obstacles. With the assistance of the Walton County Board ofCounty Commissioners, and representatives from the municipalities, the internal team will begin todevelop strategies under a unified framework to streamline the permitting process countywide toprovide a higher ease of entry to the county.

As an example, the team will look at the process that was undertaken to expand the Northwest FloridaCommerce Park at Mossy Head and the locating of FedEx and Loves Travel Stop and Country Storeat an accelerated rate. The past three years have seen significant diversification of the Walton Countyeconomy beyond the tourism and military sectors, said outgoing WCEDA Executive Director SteveJaeger. With aggressive support from the Board of County Commissioners, stakeholders have seendramatic development of the Northwest Florida Commerce Park at Mossy Head, transforming it froma forested green-field site into an active job generator, including major investments from LovesTravel Stops, Empire Truck Sales, the new Sleep Inn Hotel and a giant FedEx Ground freight sortingcenter. The WCEDA Board is also dedicated to encouraging strong public participation andoutreach. Comander has begun looking to develop a deeper affiliation with local business and keycommunity groups including CareerSource, the Walton County Chamber of Commerce, Walton

County Schools and our local institutions of higher learning. We must begin by strengthening ourrelationships and integration with local business, organizations and institutions of learning, saidComander. This will provide us with the ability to generate maximum opportunities for key businessdevelopment, ensure proper site selection, enhance workforce development and provide additionaleducational pathways to better provide opportunities to the citizens of Walton County. The WCEDA meets the first Thursday of every month at 12:00pm at the County AdministrationOffice located at 76 N. 6th Street in DeFuniak Springs.

Healthmark Health Matters By: Ron KelleyA grave disease

Graves' disease is an immune system disorder that results in the

overproduction of thyroid hormones (hyperthyroidism). Although anumber of disorders may result in hyperthyroidism, Graves' disease isa common cause.

According to researchers at Mayo Clinic, thyroid hormones affect anumber of different body systems, so signs and symptoms associatedwith Graves' disease can be wide ranging and significantly influencesomeones overall well-being. Although Graves' disease may affectanyone, it is more common among women and before the age of 40.It is easy to misdiagnose because the symptoms are also common tomany other disorders.

Signs and symptoms of Graves' disease include anxiety, irritability, heat sensitivity, an increase in perspiration or warm, moist skin, re-duced libido and a change in menstrual cycles. Other symptoms in-clude a fine tremor of in hands or fingers, rapid or irregular heartbeat, enlargement of the thyroid gland (goiter), thick, red skin usually onthe shins or tops of the feet and bulging eyes.

A physicians diagnosis of Graves' disease may require physicalexam, blood sample and other laboratory tests to measure the levelsof the antibody known to cause Graves' disease. This test usually isn'tnecessary to make a diagnosis, but a negative result might indicateanother cause for hyperthyroidism. Ultrasound can show if the thy-roid gland is enlarged and a CT scan or MRI may also be used.

It may be necessary to discontinue certain prescriptions drugs if

they are encouraging the hyperthyroidism or blocking the effects ofmedicine to treat hyperthyroidism.

In some cases, surgery may be needed to remove all or part of thethyroid as an option for the treatment of Graves' disease. After thesurgery, a person will likely need treatment to supply the body withnormal amounts of thyroid hormones. Risks of this surgery includepotential damage to the vocal cords but complications are rare underthe care of an experienced surgeon.

That is why I proudlysupported this ordinance to tighten upour beach rules, and am hopeful that itreceives public support and passes. Walton County Sheriff Michael Atkin-

    Venezuela Doesn't Have Enough

Money to Pay for Its Money

Venezuelas epic shortages are nothingnew at this point. No diapers or car parts oraspirin -- its all been well documented. But now the country is at risk of runningout of money itself. In a tale that highlights the chaos of unbri-dled inflation, Venezuela is scrambling toprint new bills fast enough to keep up withthe torrid pace of price increases. Most ofthe cash, like nearly everything else in theoil-exporting country, is imported. Andwith hard currency reserves sinking tocritically low levels, the central bank isdoling out payments so slowly to foreign

providers that they are foregoing furtherbusiness.Venezuela, in other words, is now so brokethat it may not have enough money to payfor its money. This article is based on interviews with adozen industry executives, diplomats andformer officials as well as internal com-pany and central bank documents. All ofthe companies declined official comment;the central bank did not respond to numer-ous requests for interviews and comment.

    Schools Are Dropping The Holocaust

    From History Lessons To Avoid

    Offending Muslims. This is insane..

According to a new Government-backed study, an alarmingnumber of teachers are dropping Holocaust studies fromtheir curriculum in order to avoid offending anyone.

There is also a resistance to covering the 11th centuryCrusadesa time in history where Christians foughtMuslim armies for the control of Jerusalem. Those teachings

reportedly contradict what is being taught in local mosques.

The study was funded by the Department for Education andSkills, and sought to uncover information about emotiveand controversial history teaching in primary and secondary

    schools.

Now, the findings are causing many Americans to questionwhether schools are being used as a vehicle for promoting

    political correctness.

The report also cited a specific incident in a northern city, where teachers were fearful of confronting anti-Semitic

sentiment and Holocaust denial among some Muslim pupils.

What do you think? Is this absolutely outrageous?

The Cost of Higher Education By Rian Lyday

Private student loans should beavoided at all costs.

    - Suze Orman

This topic, the cost of higher education andstudent loans, is a big focus in the upcomingelection. I wish I would have talked to SuzeOrman a long time ago because while I canwrite many degrees behind my name, my

student loans are sucking the life out of me.I am so close to having my doctorate that Ican taste it. All I have left is to write mydissertation and what is stopping me?! Thefact that every chapter I get edited while I amworking adds more to my student loans. Thistopic is also important to me because my sonis entering high school this year and will startto really think about colleges and what

    degree he wants to pursue.

We did the Florida Prepaid Plan for himwhen he was in first grade so those quick

four years are paid for but what aboutgraduate degrees? My son wants to go intomedicinedo you know what the cost is toattend medical school right now? The aver-age cost for only four years of medicalschool is around $132,000! So my son willstart his adult life deep in debt. I do not knowwhat the solution is to this problem but I dofind it comical that certain political partiesare standing on the platform that all studentloans will disappear if I take office. Wow

what a perfect thought. Why wouldnt I votefor the person who is going to erase mymountain of debt and put my tax return backin my pocket and the not the governments?

    Think careful fellow voters.

Do your research. Share the information youfind with the 18+ year-olds who only hearone side of the story. And if you have notalready started to do so, look into the many, many scholarships available for our children

    or research Florida Prepaid.

The cost of education is continuing to riseand with economics being in the poor shapethey are now, I can only imagine what the

future of college education looks like.
