MAY 18, 2014

Father Miguel Ceja Rodriguez I was born in the city of Guadala‐

jara, Jalisco, Mexico.  I’m the sev‐

enth child in a family of ten.  I’ve

lived in California since the age of

14.  I’m a diocesan priest for the

Diocese of San Bernardino, California.

I graduated from Palm Springs High School, earned an

A.A. degree from, College of the Desert, a B.A. in Phi‐

losophy from St. Joseph’s College Seminary, a M.A. in

Psychology from Stanford University, and a M.A. in The‐

ology from St. Patrick’s Seminary.

My call to ordained ministry began at my baptism.  This

call was supported by the great example of faith of my

mother and my grandmother.  My spiritual awakening

happened at a Cursillo Weekend Retreat when I was 20

years of age.  In the search of defining God’s will in my

life, I served as a lay missionary in El Salvador in the

early 80’s, I volunteered as an organizer in United Farm

Workers Union in the Coachella Valley, youth ministry,

School of ministry, and participated in the Third Na‐

tional Pastoral encuentro in Washington, D.C. in 1985.

As a priest, I have served in various parishes throughout

the diocese as priest minister, parochial vicar, and pas‐

tor.

I have been a speaker at numerous congresses including

the Los Angeles Religious Congress, and a retreat mas‐

ter.  I have experience in youth ministry, prison ministry,

social justice, organizer, twelve step groups, radio and

musical concerts.  I’m bilingual and bicultural.  I have

very positive multicultural experiences in the process of

my formation.  Therefore, I value all cultures as a gift to

our universal church.  I also value lay involvement in our

church.

I consider preaching the Word of God and the celebra‐

tion of the Eucharist as the center of my spirituality as a

priest.

(July 2014  Fr. Miguel will become our Administrator)

FIFTH SUNDAY OF EASTER MAY 18, 2014

On behalf of the parish staff I want to express my deep appreciation to all the organizers

and workers of our Parish Fiesta. There was lots of behind the scenes work that took place, an essential contribution to help bring about a successful, fun filled parish gathering. With gratitude to all who donated money, food items, and their time to do all the preliminary setting up of booths, etc. A special thank you to all the volunteers in the individual booths who gave of their time and energy during fi-esta. Our diverse cultural/ethnic communities ought to be proud of all their children and youth who shared their cultural richness by their song and dance. We are ex-tremely proud of them and hope they will continue to share their cultural gifts with us. Thanks to you, our parishioners and friends who came to participate in our fi-esta activities and contributed to the suc-cess of the 44th Parish Fiesta.
