Tim Quinlan Economist, Wells Fargo

Tim Quinlan is a director and senior economist with Wells Fargo Securities. Based in Charlotte, North Carolina, he provides analysis on the macro U.S. economy and major foreign economies. Domestically, he covers industrial production, manufacturing, and business investment spending. His international efforts concentrate on Japan, Canada, Korea, and Australia. Tim’s work has been published in academic economic journals and his comments on the economy regularly appear in The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times and USA Today. He is also a frequent guest on CNBC and National Public Radio.

Alasdair Carmichael PCI Wood Mackenzie

Alasdair Carmichael has over 35 years of experience in the synthetic fibers industry, having lived in Europe, Asia and the United States. He has been involved in the fibers industry in all major global markets.

After many years in the textile machinery business he left Rieter and joined the PCI Group in 2000 with responsibility for fibers activities in the Americas. PCI specializes in market research and consulting in the petrochemical industry with particular emphasis on the polyester and nylon chains in fibers, packaging, engineered plastics and film.

Alasdair has spoken at many international conferences and has had numerous articles published. He is a graduate of Manchester Metropolitan University in England, and is currently based in Spartanburg, South Carolina. He is Past President of the Textured Yarn Association of America and Vice President of the Synthetic Yarn and Fiber Association.

John Macaluso Industry Manager–Building and Construction, Teknor Apex Company

John Macaluso received his Bachelor of Science from Kent State University, Master of Science from the University of Massachusetts-Lowell and his MBA from the University of Rhode Island.

He worked for five years in technical, sales and marketing for Rheometrics Inc., a manufacturer of rheological test equipment.

During his 22-year career at Teknor Apex, John has served as Process Engineer, Technical Service Engineer, Technical Service Group Leader, Business Development Manager, Market Manager (TPE) and Industry Manager, Building and Construction. Bridging his roles between technical and marketing, John also held the position of Team Manager, guiding Teknor’s first implementation of its ERP system. He has published and presented at several SPE conferences.

Joshua Teitelbaum Deputy Assistant Secretary for Textiles, Consumer Goods, and Materials, United States Department of Commerce

As Deputy Assistant Secretary for Textiles, Consumer Goods, and Materials, Joshua Teitelbaum oversees programs and strategies to improve the domestic and international competitiveness of U.S. textiles, apparel, consumer goods, metals and mining forest products, and chemicals and plastics manufacturing sectors and industries.

In this role, he provides advice for trade policy development and participates in international consultations and negotiations of multilateral, regional, and bilateral trade agreements. In addition, he serves as Chairman of the Committee for the Implementation of Textile Agreements (CITA), which supervises the negotiation and implementation of textile and apparel agreements.

Dr. Maureen MacGillivray Professor of Apparel Merchandising and Design, Central Michigan University

Dr. Maureen MacGillivray is Professor of Apparel and Textiles at Central Michigan University. She received her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Apparel and Textiles from Michigan State University and her Ph.D. from Oklahoma State University. She became an assistant professor at Central Michigan University in 1988 where she developed the first functional apparel design course. Her work has included studies for national basketball, hockey and baseball teams as well as hospitals, bedding companies and other companies designing functional apparel and textiles. Her recent work with AdvanTech and the Department of Defense has brought her full circle back to working with uniforms for the most important consumer constituent of all – our men and women in the armed forces.

John Borling is a highly decorated, retired Air Force Major General. He served worldwide in high level command and staff positions. A fighter pilot, he graduated from the Air Force Academy, the National War College, Harvard Business School and John F. Kennedy School of Government, and was a White House Fellow.

During the Vietnam War, General Borling was shot down by ground fire. Seriously injured, he was captured while trying to evade and spent over 6 ½ years as a prisoner of war in Hanoi. He is an “in demand” speaker, author of the nationally-acclaimed book Taps on the Walls and a selected contributor to the anthology Gettysburg Replies. Currently, he occupies leadership positions in multiple business and civic organizations.

Ron Houle Immediate Past Chairman, USIFI

Ron Houle is immediate past chairman of the United States Industrial Fabrics Institute (USIFI). He previously served as Vice President for Washington Operations for HDT Global, an organization focused on opportunities and Programs of Record in the defense, homeland security, first responder and community hospitals sectors. He has led company partnerships with federal, state and local emergency response agencies, including strategies supporting military support to civilian agencies.

During his career, Ron has worked with DHS Technologies, which was acquired by HDT Global in February of 2015, the American Red Cross, and on the staff of the Secretary of the Army as Director of the Programs Division in the Pentagon’s Office of Legislative Liaison. He has served as a Congressional Fellow, and an assistant professor of mathematics at the United States Military Academy.

Ron graduated from West Point, served in Operation Desert Storm, and has held command positions in the United States Army, where he retired with the rank of Colonel. He holds three Master of Science degrees and is a past Chairman of the Corporate Advisory Panel of the National Guard Association.

Aubrey Hilliard President, Texican

Aubrey Hilliard has worked in the energy industry since 1976, in every segment from exploration and production to end user supply. He has been an industry leader in developing risk management and hedging strategies for natural gas producers and end users since the inception of the NYMEX natural gas contract, and authors “Energy Update”, a weekly newsletter about the natural gas industry that is distributed throughout the United States and Europe.

He is President of Texican LLC, Carolinas Division, which is the nation’s largest independent marketer of natural gas to municipal, industrial and institutional customers, and CEO of Horizon Energy Inc., an energy trading and consulting company.
