Blessed with God’s love and grace, we celebrate gifts of diversity.
By Jesus Christ’s example, we welcome, in love, all who rejoice and worship with us.
+ + +
God’s spirit, given by Christ, flows through us as living water to wash, heal, and satisfy.
As a congregation we become a fountain, sharing this living water with others.
*Please stand, in body or in spirit. Text printed in bold italics to be read in unison.
Prelude Chiming of the Hour Welcome
Introit Sing your joy, proclaim God's glory! Rise and sing, the morning has come! Bless our God and praise all creation; song of the earth, and light from heaven: God is alive! Alleluia!
*Call to Worship (from Psalm 67)
Alleluia! Christ is risen! Christ is risen indeed! Alleluia! Let the nations be glad and sing for joy; let the ends of the earth join in shouts of praise. Let all the peoples praise you, O God, let all the peoples praise you!
*Hymn 645 Sing Praise to God Who Reigns Above
*Call to Confession
*Prayer of Confession
Compassionate God, in Jesus Christ you come to us as the bearer of mercy. You know us in our promise and strength, as well as in our failure and weakness. Forgive us when we rely on old rules instead of new mercies. Raise us from troubled depths to wholeness and restoration. Cleanse us in the pools of your grace, and renew our commitments to walk with you and declare your goodness; in the name of the risen Christ we pray.
(time for silent confession) And let God’s people say: Amen.
*Assurance of Pardon
*The Peace of Christ Since God has forgiven us in Christ, let us forgive one another. The peace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. And also with you. Let us share the peace of Christ with one another.

*Affirmation of Faith The Apostles’ Creed (traditional version)
I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth. And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.
Call to Prayer (hymn 470)
There is a longing in our hearts, O Lord, for you to reveal yourself to us. There is a longing in our hearts for love we only find in you, our God.

For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours now and forever. Amen.

WORSHIP NOTES
Easter is more than a single day of celebration—
it is a season that spans 50 days beyond the Day of
Resurrection and the Day of Pentecost. Today is
the sixth Sunday of Easter.
Our anthem today is a setting of 'Shall We Gather
at the River' for tenor, flute, and piano. The hymn
was written by Robert Lowry in the summer of
1864, and was first published as 'Mutual
Recognition in the Hereafter' in 1865.
The first stanza asks a question about meeting
the saints who have gone on before at the river
of life, and the refrain is an affirmative answer.
The remaining stanzas expand on the theme of
Christian death and eternal life, and recall imagery
from Revelation 21. The tune is also by Robert
Lowry and was written for these words. He named
the tune HANSON PLACE after Hanson Place
Baptist Church in Brooklyn, New York, where
Lowry was serving as pastor at the time.
