It was another wonderful month of excing trips and fun acvies in our community! We had a full bus on our trip to Brukner Nature center on August 5th. It was a hot day and a great drive through the country side. We drove past Leroy’s home that he had built during the 1960’s. While at the Nature Center we were able to observe turtles, flying squirrels, snakes and a variety of birds. The bird observatory was a favorite of the residents. To be able to sit amongst the trees and both watch and listen to a variety of birds was a real treat. We celebrated the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games with a social that day! We had gold candies for medals, Cheetos in ice cream cones for Olympic torches and briga- dieros which is a Brazilian dessert made from sweet condensed milk, buer and choco- late! The residents enjoyed Olympic word search, trivia and most of all the equestrian event where model horses were set up to compete for gold! With a roll of the dice each horse advanced according to the number thrown! The residents loved the compeon! Later that evening we climbed on the bus for our favorite community night in Tipp City! It was big band music with a full 18-pc. orchestra playing Tommy Dorsey and Glen Miller tunes! There was an added bonus of swing dancers performing in the front! Sally Wat- son was so kind to set up chairs for us and allow the bus to park close! Our house per- former Tina F. made the trip out and like expected—knew every song word for word! The residents delighted in the music of their youth performed just as they were in the 1940’s. Yvonne gave a fascinang presentaon for the residents and their families on nave plants that aract pollinators and buerflies. She talked about the pollinator garden that was planted last year and how much it has grown! Yvonne also brought spicebush swallowtail caterpillars for everyone to see. There were several great quesons asked by the aendees and everyone learned so much. September 11th is Grandparents Day! Come from 2-4pm to celebrate our loved ones. Children, grand-children, great-grandchildren, and friends (who are like grandkids) are all invited! There will be an ice cream bar and nacho bar as well as several games. It was another wonderful month of exciting trips and fun activities in our community! We had a full bus on our trip to Brukner Nature center on August 5th. It was a hot day and a great drive through the country side. We drove past Leroy’s home that he had built during the 1960’s. While at the Nature Center

we were able to observe turtles, flying squirrels, snakes and a variety of birds. The bird observatory was a favorite of the residents. To be able to sit amongst the trees and both watch and listen to a variety of birds was a real treat.

We celebrated the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games with a social that day! We had gold candies for medals, Cheetos in ice cream cones for Olympic torches and briga-dieros which is a Brazilian dessert made from sweet condensed milk, butter and choco-late! The residents enjoyed Olympic word search, trivia and most of all the equestrian event where model horses were set up to compete for gold! With a roll of the dice each horse advanced according to the number thrown! The residents loved the competition!

Later that evening we climbed on the bus for our favorite community night in Tipp City! It was big band music with a full 18-pc. orchestra playing Tommy Dorsey and Glen Miller tunes! There was an added bonus of swing dancers performing in the front! Sally Wat-son was so kind to set up chairs for us and allow the bus to park close! Our house per-former Tina F. made the trip out and like expected—knew every song word for word! The residents delighted in the music of their youth performed just as they were in the 1940’s.

Yvonne gave a fascinating presentation for the residents and their families on native plants that attract pollinators and butterflies. She talked about the pollinator garden that was planted last year and how much it has grown! Yvonne also brought spicebush swallowtail caterpillars for everyone to see. There were several great questions asked by the attendees and everyone learned so much.
