Mr. Ward is a great freshman English and AVID teacher. However, he is also our varsity soccer coach for the boys and the girls! He is always there to lend a hand or is there when you need someone to talk to. The biggest reason he was chosen is because of his great contribution to the Leukemia society. Mr. Ward has decided that he would donate all the money from his gumball machines to a young kindergartner named Mia Tamashiro. Mia is a kindergartner from Twin Oaks Elementary. She is in an on going battle with Leukemia and is going through chemotherapy. On behalf of the school we wish Mia a full recovery and thank Mr. Ward for his generous offer. –Kayla Garrison We would like to congratulate Senior, John Frazier Robertson as our Featured Student. As the captain of the boys varsity soccer team John is a dedicated, hard working player who enjoys MMA, Magic the Gathering, League of Legends, and collective swords. Do you enjoy Rugby? Although it is not yet a sport on campus at MVHS John is working hard to bring it to us. After graduation, John plans on enlisting in the army and attending Jr. college to obtain a degree in business. - Ella Payton Featured Student Upcoming athletics Football: Frosh: Colfax Sep 17 th 5:30, L @Dixon Sep 24 th 5:30 JV: @El Dorado Sep 18 th 5:30, L @Dixon Sep 25 th 5:30 Var: @El Dorado Sep 18 th 7:30, L @Dixon Sep 25 th 7:30 Volleyball: V/JV: @Highlands Sep 18 th 4:00, W @Lindhurst Sep 21 st 4:30, W @Victory Christian Sep 22 nd 5:30, W @Lincoln Sep 24 th 4:00, W vs Dixon Sep 28 th 4:00 John Robertson

Upcoming Arts

On Friday, Sep 12th, we had another great rally with great performances from the drama club, dance team, and cheerleading team. As always the dance and the cheerleading teams pulled off great performances. Also, the drama club performed a skit to advertise an upcoming drama performance, “The Secret in the Wings”. On Monday, Sep 28th, come support our seniors on bingo night from 5pm-9: 30pm. Come join the drama club every Tuesday at lunch in the PAC warehouse and get prepared for their fall performance next month.

Upcoming Events and Performances

Attention all AP art students: need help adding or organizing your portfolio? Well are you a part of the Creative Studio Art Club? The club meets in A11 on Wednesdays from 3-4:30. Everyone is welcome; you can create or just share ideas. Interested in Mesa’s radio and TV class? Mr. Biesanz is training his reporters so keep your eyes open for their “First Rally” feature and a possible “Student Government” feature within the month.
