Mr. Cross decided to hire the twins to rake his yard, front and back, for $6.00. It was a large yard, but the front and back were about the same size.

Bill was not home from school so Bob started alone. Bob finished the whole front before Bill showed up.

The two of them raked the back together. How should they split the money?

They could each get $3.00 as agreed on with Mr. Cross.

Or

Should they divide the money according to the amount of work each did? How would you determine this?
