There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it. His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow. The guards were so afraid of him that they shook and became like dead men. The angel said to the women, "Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples: 'He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.' Now I have told you." So the women hurried away from the tomb, afraid yet filled with joy, and ran to tell his disciples. Suddenly Jesus met them. "Greetings," he said. They came to him, clasped his feet and worshiped him. Then Jesus said to them, "Do not be afraid. Go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee; there they will see me." Crossroads Enrollment is Open

We are available for meetings and tours for any new family interested in Crossroads. Simply have them call Beth Pegram at 252-431-1333 to set up an appointment. There is no greater way to reach new students than by a recommendation from a current family.

Referral Discount: As a “thank you” to current families who recommend CCS, we offer a new student referral discount to help offset the cost of tuition. Many families have taken advantage of the referral discount over the past few years, and because of those recommendations, CCS has given out over $40,000 in referral discounts. Thank you to everyone who helped bring new families to our school!

2019 Art Festival & Other Artsy News (Mrs. Newbern)

Crossroads Christian School was proud to participate in the 2019 Southeast District ACSI Art Festival. This year’s event was held on Friday, March, 22 and was hosted by Faith Christian School in Rocky Mount, NC. This is an annual event held in districts across the US within the American Christian Schools International organization. We competed with approximately 150 students in grades 3-12 from five different schools in southeast North Carolina.

Students participated in their choice of creative color mixing, painting, and photography workshops. Some of the categories entered this year included acrylic paintings, graphite pencil drawings, photography, soft pastels, mixed media, and more. Professional artists from local colleges and schools in the Nash County area reviewed each entry. They were evaluated on Design and Composition, Creativity, Technique, and Presentation. We competed in love and honor to our heavenly father. The students were directed to think about (and portray through their creative efforts) beauty and excellence that will reflect the glory and beauty of God and His creation. - Psalm 99:2-3, Philippians 4:8

Congratulations to our CCS students who received 4 out of 10 highest honor awards given to the “Best of Show” in each grade category.

Senior News (Mrs. Salinas)

February 14, 2019: Seniors delivered Valentines to citizens at the senior citizens’ home on Ruin Creek Rd. Senior Trip (March 16-22, 2019): The seniors started off their trip by spending the first day serving at Give Kids the World Village in Kissimmee, FL. From the GKTW website (gktw.org): “Give Kids The World Village is an 84-acre, nonprofit resort in Central Florida that provides weeklong, cost-free vacations to children with critical illnesses and their families.” During the morning shift, the kids (and their chaperones) served at Nancy’s Kitchen doing a variety of jobs - washing dishes, carrying trays, cleaning tables, pouring drinks, checking guests in, and serving food. We did this as a team, and then we split up in the afternoon/evening to work in different areas. Some served in the cafeteria again, some operated and assisted with theme park rides, some delivered food, some shuttled guests to various locations around the resort, and others helped throw a block party based on a life-sized version of Candy Land! The seniors really enjoyed their time serving alongside one another and made connections with the guests and their families that they will never forget!

The group picture was taken on the resort and the 2nd picture is Austin Wiard delivering food to the families.

K5 Class Has a Visitor

During the week of April 8, Mrs. Wade's kindergarten class learned about community helpers. We were lucky enough to have Mr. Ryan Woodlief come and speak to us. He is employed with the Henderson Police Department.

We learned that police officers are here to protect and serve and keep us from harm’s way. We are so thankful that he was able to come and share with us.

Thank you to all of those who risk their lives to protect us on a daily basis!

-- Mrs. Wade

Spring Athletics Update:

Weather has been the topic of conversation for our spring sports season! Rain has washed out most of our matches and games, but our teams are working hard through the adversity of the elements. Varsity Baseball and Soccer as well as our Middle School Baseball and Soccer teams have played very hard and shown great heart this spring. Our Varsity Golf team is currently ranked #2 in the state for the NCISAA.

Noah Pendergrass, a senior, has been awarded and accepted an athletic scholarship to play golf at Chowan University in the fall! He will sign his National Letter of Intent on Friday, April 26 which will air live on WIZS radio during the 1:00-2:00 p.m. Sports Mayhem sports talk show hour with Trey Snide!

CCS Values Life Project

8th graders stand with diapers collected for Vance County Department of Social Services, The Selah Center in Clarksville, and Raleigh Women's Clinic through our CCS Values Life Project. The schoolwide project took place the month of February and was the outreach of our upper school chapel services which encourage serving others in ways that you are able. CCS did this diaper drive to say thank you to local agencies for what they do to support families and care for life in our area!

Upper School Field Day – April 17 (Student Council – Mrs. Choplin)

The Student Council started with lower school last year in organizing a field day and it was such a fun day, this year they wanted to continue the field day tradition with lower school and add one for upper school, too. Thanks to our sponsors, StuCo was able to order class T-shirts for everyone plus supplies for two field day events this year!

Games included kickball, human foosball, tug-of-war, water games (that pretty much turned into all out bucket wars), tennis court four-square, volleyball, and dodgeball, and more. Pepsi donated water & Gatorades, and Kona Ice came out. It was finally a beautiful day, the pollen was gone, and kids showed up today with shiny red faces from their first real sun in months. It was a good day!
