Square – only one answer. 48 ÷ 4 = 12
So each side measures 12cm.
Oblong – more than one answer.
e.g. Long sides could be 8cm + 8cm = 16cm. Short sides could be 5cm + 5cm = 10cm. 16cm + 10cm =
26cm. (8x2)+(5x2)=26cm
Or (10x2)+(3x2) = 20 + 6 = 26cm.
How many more possibilities did you find?
TUESDAY ANSWERS
You may also have drawn (1x2)+(7x2) = 16
(5x2)+(3x2) = 16
(6x2)+(2x2) = 16
These are just two examples. There are several more.
(7x2)+(3x2) = 20
(9x2)+(1x2) = 20
(9x2)+(3x2) = 24
(7x2)+(5x2) = 24
