What is a number bond?

• a mental picture of the relationship

between a number and the parts that

combine to make it.

• sometimes called an addition fact, it is a

simple addition sum which has become

so familiar that a child can recognise it

and complete it almost instantly

and tens are correct.

We can also add using algorithm or the

place value chart.
