I was born in the third month on the twentieth day. At the moment I’m 17years old. I’m 160 cm tall, which is about five ft. There are seven letters inmy name and eight in my surname. My zip code is 16210. I learnt to swimwhen I was 14. My favorite band has released 4 albums so far. My favoriteis the third one. Two hundred and eight is the number of songs I have onmy mp3. Chatting on the cell phone is the way ofcommunicating for most people nowadays.It's easy, accessible and cost effective. Everyone has a cell phone and it requires a basicknowledge of skill and math. You need toknow numbers and how they work, and withtoday's technology you can do basicallyeverything on your cell phone, from talkingand faxing to surfing the Internet.

IN THE KITCHEN

Baking and cooking requires somemathematical skill as well. Everyingredient has to be measured andsometimes you need to multiply or divideto get the exact amount you need.Whatever you do in the kitchen requiresmath. Even just using the stove is basicmath skills in action.

DIARY

Keeping a diary has become an essential part of our daily lives. We run from placeto place and appointment to appointment. Making appointments and having atime schedule that works for you requires math. Without a diary we will crash andburn. Some people even have to make appointments to take some time out. Mathis a much needed skill in today's life.

Whether you are painting, doing the flooringor just acquiring new furniture, you need mathto make your sums add up. Everything you doinside or outside of your home needs mathskills. From accessories to a new swimmingpool and putting in new lighting.

Can you imagine going to the bank and nothaving any idea what you need to do or howto manage your finances. This will cause ahuge disaster in your life, and you will bebankrupt within hours.

Every outing you plan needs your math skill.Whether you go to the beach or the zoo isirrelevant. You will plan your way there andyou will use your time wisely, math is yourguide that will assist you and help you. Whendriving you need fuel, oil and water, without ityour car will break down. ARTS

When doing any form of art youare using math. Whether you'rea sculptor, a painter, a dancer oreven just doing a collage forfun, you will need to be able tomeasure, count and apply basicmath to it. Every form of art isco-dependant upon math skills.

AT THE SHOP

Whether buying coffee or a car,basic principles of math are in play.Purchasing decisions require someunderstanding of budgets and thecost and affordability of items fromgroceries to houses. Short-termdecisions may mean only needingto know cash-at-hand, but biggerpurchases may require knowledgeof interest rates and amortizationcharts. Finding a mortgage may bemuch different than choosing aplace to have lunch, but they bothcost money and require math.
