Lessons Learned
• Students will embrace technology … especially when there is a space for them to express their individuality (personal profiles, pics, blog, chat)
• Provides a good opportunity to ‘academic-ize’ the use of computers • Emailing attachments • Effective search techniques
• Lessons must be mapped to prior instruction … students do not connect abstracts dots online
• Avoid multiple choice . . . They don’t mind being wrong and it doesn’t give you info on accuracy of response
• Including pop culture or local names/places personalizes the experience
• Always include a writing component . . . Stress the need for consistency on online and in class writing.
