Our packaging papers include a wide range of products from Pure and Imitation Kraft to Waxed Kraft Paper and Tissue Paper.

Packaging papers are ideal for wrapping, separating and covering products to protect them from dirt, moisture and damage during transit and storage. WHAT ARE KRAFT PAPERS?

Kraft papers relate to a range of papers that are

manufactured using an extra chemical treating

process on the ground paper pulp, which

increases the overall strength of the paper.

Versatile, strong and hard wearing, kraft paper is

ideal for wrapping and protecting goods.

Pure kraft made from pure virgin fibres is the strongest paper and offers greater tear resistance

Imitation kraft made from 100% recycled material offers good protection and is more cost effective than pure kraft

Waxed kraft provides additional moisture and corrosion protection by the addition of an extra wax layer on pure kraft paper

IMITATION KRAFT PAPER ROLLS

Imitation kraft is manufactured from recycled fibres, which means that it can be a cost effective alternative to pure kraft. Imitation kraft lends itself more for light to medium use and is used mainly for wrapping but can still be effective as a protection layer.

WAXED KRAFT PAPER ROLLS

The addition of a waxed finish provides a paper that can offer a moisture resistant barrier, which makes this paper ideal for use with wrapping oily or greasy items. This moisture protection also acts as a corrosion inhibitor, which makes this perfect for use in the shipping of metallic components and machine parts.

ACID FREE TISSUE PAPER

Made using a process to remove all acidic pulp, acid free tissue paper is the perfect wrapping product for delicate and fragile goods going into storage. Acid free tissue paper is also the ideal protective product for precious metals, like jewellery or silverware. Tissue paper is lightweight, soft, flexible and economical, so can be used for interleaving or as void fill in larger packages.

SEALED AIR BUBBLE FILM ROLLS

AirCap® and AirCap®E bubble film rolls are made using barrier film to help air retention, which keeps the film inflated longer than some other films. The AirCap®E bubble 200 meter rolls use a thinner film which allows for a roll size that is similar to some other standard 100 meter rolls, which improves handling efficiencies and reduces costs and is more friendly on the environment. A range of bubble sizes allows for picking the exact type of bubble roll best suited for the product being shipped or the protection required.

J IFFY ASTRO® PACKAGING FOAM ROLLS

A low-density polyethylene layer that is a gentle alternative to some more traditional packaging wraps, so is ideal for protecting items that need special care and attention, offering protection from scuffing and abrasion. FOAM PROFILES

A range of foam profiles that are manufactured from polythene foam, free from CFC’s, that provide extra protection for edges and corners, which are more prone to damage during transit. The range offers different shapes and profile sizes, that allow for the best shape for the product being packed. Being made from foam, the products are very light, so do not add unwanted weight for transit, but still offer excellent product protection. FILLPAK MANUAL VOID FILL

Turns a single layer of brown paper into a filling material to protect products during shipment. Paper comes in fanfolded packs and is fed through the Fillpak manual desktop machine creating a crumpled piece of paper which can be placed in voids to stop movement within the carton.

Fefco box styles Fefco box styles are what we use to describe what type of box you might need. We use the industry standard codes for different box styles, for example, the most popular box style is 0201 which is a type of box you are fairly used to seeing - it has two outer flaps that meet in the middle top and bottom to tape.

Made from a high percentage of recycled material, our double wall boxes are very environmentally friendly and can be fully recycled after use, what’s more the extra strength provided by these boxes makes them perfect for multiple use. Multi depth boxes are designed with multiple height options available, simply cut down to the required height, fold and secure - further improving the versatility of the boxes but also ensuring that the boxes fit perfectly to the contents being packed.

Vinyl Also known as PVC, vinyl tape is thicker than PP and has a smooth and quiet release from the roll. It’s easily torn by hand, but doesn’t stretch, and is strong enough to take puncture holes. Matt in appearance, this carrier type is only available with a solvent adhesive.

Polypropylene (PP) PP tapes are shiny in appearance and come in a range of adhesives (Solvent, Hotmelt, Acrylic) to cover all packaging applications. They are more cost effective and environmentally friendly compared to vinyl, but are less likely to hold a puncture.

TAPES

ADHESIVES Solvent – is a natural rubber recommended

for sealing medium to heavy loads and is temperature resistant. It’s available in standard and low noise as well as for manual or machine applications.

Hotmelt – is known as a synthetic rubber suitable for general applications. It’s one of the most popular adhesives and is available for manual or machine application.

Acrylic – is a water based adhesive available in standard and low noise. It’s not recommended for use in cold condition as it can lift, however freezer grade options are available. Acrylic adhesive works best for sticking polythene.

Low noise tapes using a polypropylene carrier that are available with either a solvent or acrylic adhesive. STRETCH WRAP

Whenever selecting film, the following variables should be taken into account:

Type of productStretchfilm type is dependent on what you are wrapping. Lighter, more fragile goods require a lower gauge of film to avoid being crushed than heavier, more solid goods that can withstand the pressure of higher gauges.

Type of loadThere are two factors that determine load type – the weight of the load and the uniformity of its outside surface. Examples of different load types are shown to the right.

Type of equipmentMachine stretch levels will help determine what type of film is necessary to wrap a load. Higher gauges were once required for machines with high pre-stretch levels, whereas today we are selling thinner, tougher films which are able to endure greater levels of stretch whilst maintaining their strength.

CAST HAND STRETCHFILM

Cast hand stretchfilms offer very good film clarity, allowing for product visibility during transit. Cast films are also very quiet when being unwound from a roll, which makes it good for areas of high packing activity volumes. Cast films are also more elastic, so can offer better stretch abilities. Extended core hand wrap allows users to apply film more quickly and easily, when using hand dispensers.

Both films offer great benefits, but the choice of which to use should be based on your goals, circumstances and expectations. Generally, both films offer money saving pre-stretch performance and effective load containment. They’re also suitable for a wide range of applications.

Cast Film Cast film is made when sheets of heated resin are fed through a rolling path using chilled rollers that cool and solidify the film. Compared to blown film, cast is clearer which offers better clarity of the product and labels underneath. It also unwinds quieter and is soft and easy to stretch, but strong enough to resist tearing.

Blown Film Blown film is made when heated resin is blown in to a bubble which is transferred in to rollers and cooled by the surrounding air. Compared to cast film, blown is tough, resilient and very resistant to puncture. It also has an exceptional cling, but makes more noise unwinding.

BLOWN HAND STRETCHFILM

Blown hand stretchfilms offer excellent puncture resistance, which makes them great for wrapping odd shape pallets or products. Blown films also offer superior tack over cast films, which makes them stick to pallets and goods easier, which speeds up the wrapping process. Blown films are not as elastic as cast films, so it is easier to apply larger force on packed pallets, which makes the film perfect for use on heavier pallets and goods.

Cardboard edge protectors are used when stacking pallets to help to strengthen loads and make them more stable for shipping. Before packing any object, ask yourself the following questions:

How big is it? The size of the object will influence the amount of protection it requires; small lightweight items will have different needs to large cumbersome items. Consider carefully about the size and any problems this might cause.

What shape is it? Is there anything that may require extra support or cushioning?

What does it weigh? A very important consideration. A computer for example would require more cushioning than a calculator would.

How fragile is it? Is the product likely to break if dropped or subjected to aerial sorting?

How is the product to be shipped? Is there more than one item to be packaged? If there is more than one how fragile are they collectively?

Is there a special surface finish? Highly polished surfaces are prone to scratching and require protection.
