Must and Mustn’t Must is used to say that something is

necessary to be done. You must go now or you’ll be late.

Mustn’t (i.e. must not) is used to say that something is not allowed to be done.She mustn’t say such a thing to older people. It is impolite.

Participle Phrases (1)

The present participle can be used to replace a relative clause in the active voice.

• The house which is standing at the foot of the hill belongs to the royal family.

• The house standing at the foot of the hill belongs to the royal family.

replace a relative clause in the passive voice.
