Push the right stick away from the direction you’re running in,

Hold the right stick to the side of the direction that your player

is running in to roll the ball!

Hit the shoot button, then quickly press X/A and change

When you get a chance in the box, don’t blast it! Try to shoot across the keeper where there’s more space,

and make sure you use your player’s strongest foot!

Shoot from range if your player’s got a good long shot and has the ball under control! Don’t use more

than three bars of power, and if you are cutting in from an angle, hold

R1/RB to finesse it into the corner!

Hold L1/LB while dribbling to wrong-foot defenders, and press sprint at the same time to throw out even bigger dummies! Make sure your player has good Dribbling stats though, or you’ll lose the ball easily!

The Driven Pass isn’t always accurate, but it’s a useful way to switch play or get the ball forward quickly. Hold down R1/RB and

Start showboating by using the skill pass! Just

Exercise 3 – REsisTED RunsTie a 3-metre length of string to a belt around your waist. At the other end, tie it to a strong bag filled with sand that can be zipped or tied. Run hard for 10 metres, then walk for 10 metres. Repeat for 100 metres. Take the belt off and run 10 metres without resistance. Repeat 10 times.

DinnER TiPEat a pizza with a wholemeal base. Add tomatoes, courgettes, olive oil, olives, peppers, garlic and mozzarella cheese.


Exercise 5 – Ball REaCTiOn skillsPlace 3 jumpers 1 metre apart. Replace a football with a rugby ball for this drill. Start by dribbling around the jumpers out and back while controlling the odd-shaped ball. Perform out and back 10 times, rest for 1 minute and repeat 10 times.

Exercise 2 – gOalkEEPER Wall TaPs & CaTChStand facing a wall 2 metres away and hold a ball above your head. Throw the ball high against the wall so you can jump and catch it. Land and repeat the drill. Perform 10 sets of 20 catches with a minute recovery between each set.

Exercise 4 – high-inTEnsiTY CiRCuiTPlace 8 sticks 18 inches apart. Accelerate using fast feet from one end to the other, then do 10 burpees. Run back down the ladder and do 10 press-ups. Run back down the ladder and do 10 sit-ups. Then do 10 star jumps. Repeat for 2 minutes. Have 1 minute rest and repeat 10 times.

Exercise 6 – Bag ThROWsGet mum or dad to get an old bag that can be zipped or tied and fill it with sand so it weighs about 8-10kg. Perform 10 throws forward, 10 throws to the left, 10 throws to the right. Rest for 2 minutes and repeat another 5 sets.

DRink TiPDrink milk after training as this is proven to be excellent for rehydration and recovery.


Exercise 7 – REaD & REaCTGet a friend to stand a metre behind you. They throw a ball over your head and you react by chasing the ball. While this is happening, your friend moves away from their original position. Control the ball, turn and pass it back to where your friend has moved to. Repeat 50 times.

FOOD TiPGet mum or dad to try blending cauliflower and use this as a substitute for rice.
