We, BASF Group, are keen on our business – production of materials that make structures more durable and environmentally safe.

Building waterproofing is one of our key profiles. It was cement-based waterproofing inhibiting coating that became the first in our line of construction products more than 100 years ago. In 1960s, we began modifying cement products with polymers; in 1980s, we developed the first two-component elastic membranes; in 1990s – highly elastic, and now we produce single-component highly elastic membranes.

Waterproofing application rules are at the forefront of developing and implementing these products. For decades, we have been taking part in the development of European regulations on waterproofing and protection of the underground parts of buildings, among them – DIN EN 14891 and DIN EN 15814, as well as British Standard BS 8102.

Unfortunately, our country does not have a general regulatory act setting the rules of waterproofing products application.

Project designers and then constructors have to use either obsolete recommendations or technical regulations issued by certain manufacturers of waterproofing products. This leads to the selection of solutions, which are not compliant with project requirements and conditions, or performance of waterproofing works without due quality inspection and hence leaks, flooding and fungus in the already-built facility.

BASF is willing to change this attitude!

With the benefit of international regulatory experience, we have elaborated objective rules for the selection of cement-based waterproofing products.

We would like to share this tool with you in order to help you find a way around the variety of products on the market and choose the optimal solution for your task. We hope this brochure will become your reliable assistant.

Sincerely yours, BASF Master Builders Solutions team

Without mechanical action > 1.0 > 0.8

With mechanical action > 2.0 > 1.5 X

Bitumen and elastic cement-based waterproofing should be protected during the excavation backfill. For deformable substrates, elastic waterproofing should be selected; in rare instances, it should be penetrating.

* Depends on the adhesion parameter of a certain material.
