In this program you will study technology delivery and mediated learning with an emphasis on the development, function and utilization of technologies within educational settings. This concentration is for professionals seeking to expand their knowledge of instructional technology in a teaching and learning environment, as well as those interested in leadership roles in IST. PROGRAM OPTIONS The IST concentration can be completed in 33 hours with a thesis, or in 36 hours with the non-thesis option. Four core general education courses are required along with four core IST courses. If you are a Master of Arts degree in Education student in Interdisciplinary Learning and Teaching, you are encouraged to take the four General Education Core courses first. CAREER OPPORTUNITIES The IST program prepares graduates for a variety of jobs. Some opportunities may require entry-level skills in support areas such as adult and higher education, or management of technology. The curriculum supports the following positions: in K-12 education – campus or district technology trainer, master technology trainer or master technology class- room teacher; in adult education – community college teaching and other traditional or non-traditional settings; and in the industry/corporate arena – instructional designer, course designer or instructional technologies. • A baccalaureate degree• A 3.0 GPA in the last 60 hours of coursework• Be in good standing at the last institution attended• Completion of 18 undergraduate credit hours in education or related field (including 12 upper-division level hours)
