Earn the GPP in 16 Months

The Master of Arts in Global Policy Program (GPP) is a 16-month degree designed for experienced professionals seeking to advance their careers while maintaining full-time employment. With the GPP’s unique curriculum and calendar, students can immediately apply what they learn in the classroom.

In the heart of Washington, DC, students engage with thought leaders from a variety of fields. Recent speakers include IMF managing director Christine Lagarde, Google executive chairman Eric Schmidt, U.S. secretary of commerce Penny Pritzker, former U.S. Treasury secretary and SAIS alumnus Timothy Geithner, and many others.

When on campus, GPP students take classes and work together in study teams, developing strong networks and connections with other international professionals across sectors while earning a rigorous SAIS degree.

Topics covered include international politics and decision making, comparative politics, and cross-cultural negotiations.

How It Works

Students complete two online foundation courses prior to the start of the campus-based program.

Over the next 16 months, students take a series of cohort and elective courses divided into five 10-week modules. Classes meet every other Friday and Saturday (five weekends per module).

Three multiday residencies will be delivered on campus, and a fourth capstone residency will be delivered abroad.
