P ARISH TRANSFORMATION:

CONSECRATION TO THE HOLY FAMILY

O Lord Jesus,

you lived in the home of Mary and Joseph in Nazareth. There you grew in age, wisdom and grace

as you prepared to fulfill your mission as our Redeemer.

We entrust our family to you.

O Blessed Mary, you are the Mother of our Savior. At Nazareth you cared for Jesus

and nurtured him in the peace and joy of your home. We entrust our family to you.

O Saint Joseph,

you provided a secure and loving home for Jesus and Mary,

and gave us a model of fatherhood while showing us the dignity of work.

We entrust our family to you.

Holy Family, we consecrate ourselves and our family to you.

May we be completely united in a love that is lasting, faithful and open to the gift of new life.

Help us to grow in virtue, to forgive one another from our hearts,

and to live in peace all our days. Keep us strong in faith, persevering in prayer,

diligent in our work, and generous toward those in need.

May our home, O Holy Family, truly become a domestic church

where we reflect your example in our daily life. Amen.

Jesus, Mary and Joseph, pray for us!

Prayer composed by Archbishop William E. Lori of Baltimore, Supreme Chaplain. 10371 2/16

The Harrisburg Diocesan Mandate Workshop to be an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion has been scheduled in Brindle Hall at 9:00 AM on January 25, 2020 by the Office of Divine Worship. This workshop is for both new

and renewing mandates. Mandates are good for 5 years and must be renewed if interested in continuing in this ministry. Deadline to register is Jan. 3.

Anointing of the Sick will be offered after all Masses the weekend of January 4/5, 2020. If you need assistance coming forward after Mass, please let the ushers know, and they will assist you. The priest celebrant for the 4:00 PM Mass will be assigned to Confessions. The other priest will start the anointing ceremony as soon as possible after Mass. 2019 End of Year Tax Statement: There were big changes that

accompanied the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act when it passed in 2017. Among them was the increase in the standard deduction for all who file income taxes. As a result of this change, we will no longer automatically generate year-end donation statements. We will be happy to send a donor’s record of giving to any parishioner who requests one. Please email David Maceiko at [email protected] or call him at 717-766-9433 if you have any questions or to request your year-end statement.

Banns of Marriage are published for DeAnna Nimowicz and Timothy Newcamp, both parishioners of Saint Joseph Parish, who will be married on January 11, 2020, at Saint Joseph in Danville, PA.

BIBLE STUDY begins in January! DAYTIME AND EVENING OPTIONS

In both programs, participants will complete independent reading and study questions, then come together weekly for prayer, a video, and small group discussion.

Our EVENING study will be Lectio Eucharist, in which presenter Dr. Brant Pitre digs down to the biblical roots of the Eucharist, through its foreshadowing in the miraculous events of the Old Testament, the Gospels, and Apostolic teaching. In this 10-part series, we will discover how Christ's Body and Blood are an integral and wondrous part of God's plan for our salvation.

Sundays, Jan 19 - Mar 22, 5:45 - 7:30 PM in Brindle Hall Fee: $10 requested*

For our DAYTIME study, we will continue the popular Great Adventure series by delving into First Corinthians. Paul’s first letter to the Corinthians addresses many of the topics that

appear in the today’s headlines: scandals, promiscuity, debates and controversies, and issues related to prosperity versus poverty. In this 11-part program, presenter Tim Gray examines Paul’s advice for living the Christian life in a pagan culture, as well as his teachings about the nature of grace, the Church as the body of Christ, and the most powerful gift of all–the Eucharist.

Wednesdays, Jan 22 - Apr 1, 10 AM - 12 noon in Brindle Hall Fee: $30 requested*

* If cost is an issue, we will happily accept whatever

amount you can offer or waive the fee.

Please submit the registration form below to the Parish Office, or drop it in the collection basket at Mass. Contact: Mary at

Welcome to Saint Joseph Parish! The Holy Family of Jesus, Mary, and Joseph

The school recently put on another wonderful Christmas Program which was enjoyed by the entire SJS community! Featured here are members of the Tableau.

Students and staff collected items for three specific charities

for our Advent/ Christmas Service Project: Morningstar Pregnancy Services (from first floor homerooms), Catholic Charities' Interfaith Shelter for Homeless Families (from second floor homerooms), and The Ronald McDonald House of Central PA (from third floor homerooms). The three special Christmas trees and donations adorned the school lobby. Thank you, students, parents, and staff for your generosity!

Instead of writing letters to Santa, third graders wrote letters to the Christ Child. Shown are some of the beautiful letters they wrote.
