You’ll learn about…
Massage Theory
The study of the specific effects of massage on the human body
for the purpose of enhancing health and well-being. Includes
patient assessment, office procedures, ethics, and hygiene.
Massage Practice
Learning the appropriate massage techniques and procedures in
the proper sequence to help achieve client homeostasis.
Anatomy
The study of the structure of the body. The student of massage
needs working knowledge of all the structures of the body with
emphasis on the skeletal, muscular, nervous, cardiovascular and
lymphatic systems.
Physiology
The study of the functions of the body. As with anatomy empha-
sis is placed on the functioning of the skeletal, muscular, nerv-
ous, cardiovascular and lymphatic systems.

Available in a 12-month full-time or an 18-month part-time pro-
gram.
Licensure
Curriculum is approved by the State Medical Board of Ohio.
Graduates are eligible for state testing through the State Medi-
cal Board of Ohio offered in June and December.

EHOVE Adult Career Center
PROGRAM INFORMATION The Massage Therapy program is designed to provide basic instructional information for entry level to the Massage Therapy profession. The program meets the criteria and is certified by the Medical Board of the State of Ohio. Anyone who is over 18 years of age and has completed his or her high school education or equivalency is eligible to apply for the program. The program is 856 hours of instruction. Classes will begin in August and end the following August for the 12 month program and October 2012 through April 2014 for the 18 month program. A student clinic is open to the public to provide an instructional experience. Students who successfully complete the program will be eligible to take the State Medical Board of Ohio licensure examination.
PHILOSOPHY To prepare well-trained, ethical and professional persons to enter the
field of Massage Therapy. To graduate well prepared candidates for the State Medical Board of
Ohio Massage Therapy licenser examination.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Applicants for the State Medical Board of Ohio licensure will be required to provide a FBI/BCI background check and additional documentation if convicted of a felony or have a history of chemical/substance abuse.
Be advised arrests, charges or convictions of criminal offenses may be cause to deny or limit licensure or employment opportunities in specific careers and occupations. Refer to rule 4731-4-02(D) of the Administrative Code for factors the State Medical Board of Ohio may consider when reviewing the results of a criminal records check.

ADMISSION PROCESS Program acceptance steps in necessary order: Informational Sessions: Attendance at one of the informational sessions (no charge) is a prerequisite to proceed with the Massage Therapy Program. These sessions will address questions and concerns related to the Allied Health Careers Programs. A check list of requirements will be distributed at this session. Please call extension 280 or 231 to schedule your session.
I. Pre-entrance Exam: $81.00 (non-refundable) Testing Fee (Credited toward tuition)
A pre-entrance exam is required of all applicants. Areas and scores are as follows: Math (3), Reading (5), Locating Information (4), Language (10th), and Spelling in the 50%ile. The enclosed flyer gives details of times and dates. Please call extension 295 or 231 for an appointment to take the exam. After the exam, an appointment will be made for you to review your scores with the school counselor.
II. EHOVE application and processing fee (non-refundable) Each applicant must submit an application* along with a fee of $50.00 cash, check or
money order, payable to EHOVE Adult Career Center. III. School Records
Send the Request for Student Records* form to the high school from which you graduated or are now attending. They will send your transcripts to the EHOVE Adult Career Center. If high school equivalency was established through GED testing, bring a copy of your GED certificate.
IV. Physical Examination
All applicants are required to obtain a physical from Firelands Corporate Health prior to starting to the program. Call (419) 557-5052 to schedule an appointment. The cost of the physical is ± $52.00.
V. Professional Massage Schedule a massage with a therapist licensed by the Medical Board of the State of Ohio, complete and submit the Professional Massage* form.
VI. Orientation
A mandatory orientation session will be scheduled. VII. Criminal Background Check (BCI)
All applicants must complete a criminal background check (BCI) from EHOVE Career Center at the Board of Education office in F building. Contact Donna or Teresa, Monday through Friday 8am-4pm. Cost is $25.00, cash or checks payable to EHOVE Career Center are accepted.
If class fills, applicants will be placed on a waiting list. Openings occasionally become available when students decide at the last minute not to attend. * Forms enclosed

CAREER
TESTING
Career testing is required for most of our instructional programs. Testing must be scheduled
before class begins and may include measures of interests, abilities and work values. For
most courses, a fee of $54.00-$81.00 is due the day of testing and will be applied toward
tuition. Testing lasts approximately 2 to 3 hours. Please make sure to bring a photo ID
with you.
