OUR BEREAVEMENT MINISTRY WELCOMES YOU FOR AN EVENING OF PRAYER
Tuesday, March 25 from 7:00 until 8:30 p.m. Love and concern for the suffering and sorrowful have always been a tradition of Jesus’ life. In the Gospels we see over and over again how those afflicted sought Christ’s healing presence. When a member of our parish reaches the end of their life, sympathies to a be-reaved family are extended through our Bereavement Ministry. This ministry provides support to families by meeting with them to plan the Mass of the Res-urrection. The Bereavement Ministry offers assistance to a family at a time when there is little else one can do. To benefit families who are grieving due to the loss of a loved one, we invite you to join us on Tuesday, March 25, in the Parish Center to pray with family mem-bers who have lost their loved ones. Any one who is suffering from the lost of a loved one is welcome to join us. Please call Joyce Browne at the Parish Business Office to register, 773.631.4127.

RESPONSIBILITY
On February 5th students in grades PreK through 8th grade gathered in the gym for the monthly Building Peace Assembly. Each month’s assembly features a different theme.
This month, the students in 6th grade presented the theme of Responsibility. The purpose of the assembly was to encourage students to accept responsibility for their actions. The 6th graders taught students how
to See the Problem, Own the Problem, and Solve the Problem when dealing with a situation in a responsible way.
The students practiced the S.O.S (See, Own, Solve) plan to-gether during an activity at the end of the assembly.

“A CELEBRATION OF LASTING LOVE” Saturday, February 8 drew to a close with the cold, snow and wind that we have come to expect during this harsh winter in Edi-son Park. But inside Saint Juliana Church, as we gathered for our Valentine Mass for Married Couples, we created our own sanctuary filled with warmth and love. Father Phil was our celebrant and homilist and all of the liturgical ministers were mar-ried couples who shared their talents and gifts with the rest of our congregation of married couples. From the Gathering Song “God Who Created Hearts to Love” led by our cantor couple, Lee and Steve Baggio, through the readings from Sirach and Ephisians, read by Pat and Mike McGlinn, to the communion minister and greeter couples we were surrounded by married cou-ples who came to the liturgy as husband and wife to serve and celebrate the gift of their love! Father Phil’s inspiring homily focused on virtues and values that couples strive to include in their marriage. These were de-scribed as opposites, which can pull spouses in different directions or bring us closer together. Listening and Talking, Crying and Laughing, Working and Playing, Discovering and Revealing, Arguing and Forgiving, Hurting and Healing, Living and Dying, each dichotomy was elaborated on and truly helped us to see the progress we’ve made as married couples as well as the places in our marriage that we might spend some time focusing on as a couple. Along with Father Phil’s homily, some other highlights of the liturgy were: joining hands and looking into our spouse’s eyes as we repeated our marriage vows to one another, seeing the wedding photos of many of the couples displayed on the commun-ion rail, and tallying the years of marriage from all of the couples in attendance...1,025!! There were two couples who cele-brated 55 years of marriage and one couple who had been married only 7 years. As we recessed from the liturgy, arm in arm, to the “Wedding March” by Mendelssohn there were smiles and hugs and fond memories of our wedding days and all of the joys and sorrows of our married lives. What a wonderful way to mark the anniversary of our Marriage and Valentines Day Mass with our Saint Juliana Community and “A Celebration of Lasting Love”! Watch the bulletin for the next event sponsored by the Marriage Enrichment Ministry coming later this year!! Joyful Now...On Monday, March 3, our Joyful Now group is delighted to welcome Sheila Duda, Certified Tea Specialist by the Specialty Tea Institute and owner of TeaLula in Park Ridge. Sheila will share her knowledge of tea in a pres-entation of “From the Bush to the Cup”. Participants will embark on a journey around the world of loose leaf tea sampling teas from China, India and Taiwan. Like the great wine-growing regions of France, these countries are known for producing teas of a particular character. Sheila will discuss each countries tea culture, unique manufacturing process, and tea characteristics giving participants a solid understanding of the flavor profile of each tea sampled. If you prefer coffee instead of tea, there will be plenty on hand so come join us for an interesting presentation and lively conversation. Joyful Now is open to all widows and widowers. Hoping to see you on Monday, March 3, 10:00 a.m. in the Parish Center. Questions? Please call Joyce Browne at the Parish Center 773.631.4127 or email [email protected]
