  • How to Use Your Math Timed Tests

This is a truly effective set of daily math tests that I have used quite successfully in my class formany years. Students master their basic facts and become excited and motivated to excel.

Tests can be given 3 times weekly, or every day. Choose whatever schedule you find best for yourclass.

Time allowed: 5 minutes - I set a kitchen timer.

When first starting the program, students should begin on the 2’s.

Students must get 100% on a test in order to go on to the next test.If any problems are incomplete or wrong, those students must take the same test the next day, until a100% passing score is achieved.

The easiest way to use this program is to duplicate many copies of each level and keep them inlabeled file folders for easy daily access. Remember to tests as indicated before filing.

After checking tests, enter only the passing tests on the (near the back ofthis booklet) under the appropriate level. Enter the date that the student passed the test.

Use this record sheet to write students names on the sheetso you can quickly hand out the correct tests the following day.

An award sheet is included to recognize students who have achieved mastery.

You might give awards after students pass:

    ● levels 2 through 12

however you want to recognize a student for math test achievement.

I presented the awards at our “Student-of-the-Month” assemblies.

I hope these tests prove successful, motivating, and easy to use!

    Best wishes,Mary Hopkins
