Dear Brothers & Sisters,

Let us keep in our thoughts and prayers the families and friends of those who lost loved ones in the terrible shooting in Pittsburgh. Let us also keep in our thoughts and prayers our brothers and sisters in the Jewish community as they grieve and try to come to terms with this senseless act of violence.

Heavenly Father, please extend your healing hands upon your children, Abraham’s daughters and sons, and grant them the ability to heal. Heavenly Father, we extend to you all the prayers of our hearts for our Jewish brothers and sisters and hope they will know we love them and are with them in this time of tragedy. ~Fr. Martin

Veterans Day will be observed on Monday, November 12th. Mass will be celebrated at 9:00am instead of the usual time at both churches. The parish office is also closed for the holiday.

On Tuesday, October 30th, a prayer service was held in front of the Temple B’Nai Abra-ham on Crosswicks St.

Local residents and clergy members gathered to pray and offer support to our Jewish neighbors in light of the recent tragedy in Pittsburgh. In attendance from the Catholic community were Fr. Cesar Anson, Fr. Jeff Pool and Fr. Martin Padovani.

The Knights of Columbus and the Holy Name Society will once again be providing Turkey Dinners for the families in need. We will be collecting Turkeys in McGrath Hall kitchen (Holy Assumption Church Hall) on Saturday, November 17th from 1:00pm to 4:00pm and Sunday, November 18th from 10:00am to 12:00pm.

Memorial Liturgy Service Every year in November we have a memorial service to re-member our departed loved ones. This year the Service will be held on November 15th at 7:00pm in St. Mary’s Church. The format will be different from previous years. If you wish to have your family member named there will be a can-dle with your family member’s name on it. During the ser-vice when your family member’s name is called, you will be invited to come forward to place the candle in a dedicated area. Please call the office at 609-298-0261 by November 13th to let us know that you would like to attend and the name to be remembered, regardless of when they passed away.

Advent Wreath Workshop Nov. 30th 7:00-9:00PM

The first Sunday of Advent is December 2nd so it’s time to start thinking about building your family’s Ad-vent Wreath. A great tradition during the four weeks of Advent is lighting the candles during family meals. Each week a new candle is added until we reach Christmas and then the center candle is lit. On Friday, November 30th at 7:00PM, in St. Mary’s School Hall, the parish is having its annual advent wreath building workshop. Bring your family and build your own unique advent wreath, all supplies will be provided. At the workshop you will learn about the advent season, sing a few songs, have refreshments and have your newly created advent wreath blessed. Register online for the workshop at the parish website www.mmotcp.org or call the parish office at 609-298-0261. You must register by November 25th. Don’t miss this chance to create, as a family, your own unique ad-vent wreath and celebrate the Advent Season by light-ing your candles at home. Each year we have multi-plied in numbers for those attending so don’t miss out.

Loving God and Father, You have given us every good gift and prom-ised to be with us always. We ask for your blessing as we journey through this Year of Youth in the Diocese of Trenton. Surround us in your care and enfold us in your love. Guide our bishop. Inspire our priests, our deacons, our re-ligious, and all the faithful. Bless our families. Strengthen our parishes and schools. Make this be a time of grace for the young Church; a time of growth and renewal for all who take part in this Year of Youth. Send your Holy Spirit among us to awaken in our hearts the courage to live the joy of the Gospel in everything we do. We ask this through Christ, our Lord. Amen.

Advent Giving Tree Mary, Mother of the Church Parish will once again be participating in the Advent Giv-ing Tree. We will continue to support six organizations with this very generous effort. Mary, Mother of the Church parishioners have always been so giving and for this we continue to pray for your generosity. Here is a breakdown of the organizations we help.

Blue Mittens: Food Pantry and should NOT be wrapped.

Yellow Stars: Mount Carmel Guild and should NOT be wrapped. The Guild provides “a helping hand” to ailing seniors and impoverished individuals and families.

Red Angles: First Way of Burlington Co. and should NOT be wrapped. First Way supports disadvantaged mothers with tests and supplies for the needs of their newborn.

Purple Snowman: St. Vincent de Paul and should NOT be wrapped. SVdP offers person-to-person service to those who are needy and suffering in many ways.

White Snowmen: Tabor House and should NOT be wrapped. This is a residence for men in recovery.

Green Trees: Martin House and these gifts SHOULD BE WRAPPED and it is very important that the Green Tree Tag be securely attached. We are blessed in gift giving for the needs of 5 families with children. LARGE DONATIONS- If God has been good to you this year and you wish to donate a bike, electronic toy or other special gift, please tag it for “Any Boy” or “Any Girl” and Martin House will find the perfect child for that gift.

All gifts are to be placed under the Giving Tree by December 9th.
