Mission:

The Mary & John Elliot Charitable Foundation is a non-profit, charitable organization created to provide financial support to address the various health care and wellness needs of the local community and of the Elliot Health System.


Foundation History:Elliot Hospital was founded in 1890 by a $60,000 donation from Mary Elliot in memory of her husband Dr. John Seaver Elliot to create our community hospital in Manchester.

We continue this long standing tradition of philanthropy through the Mary & John Elliot Charitable Foundation office which financially supports Elliot Health System.


Accomplishments Last Year:• More than $1.1 million raised through employee and

community donations, special events, grants and local businesses.

• Special events last year (July, 2018- July, 2019) raised $799,000.00• iGive (Annual Fund) Campaign raised $ 349,000• Over $143,000 given by Elliot employees, most using our online

payroll deduction form at www.elliothospital.org/igive

• All money that comes into Foundation flows out to benefit Elliot patients, departments and staff

• 100% of gifts go back out to clinical improvements!

Give 5 Campaign• Dress down days on Fridays

during the months of March, May, August, and October benefitting various departments throughout the hospital.

• $5 donation for each Friday of casual dress. Employees must obtain permission from department manager (not all departments are eligible) and wear a Give 5! sticker on each Friday they participate.


Donation Impact On The Elliot Patient Experience:

Hope is Here - $29M Elliot Regional Cancer Center ExpansionOur focus right now - we will need to raise over $10M.

The new 36,000 sq. ft. Cancer Center will feature:

- 2 New Linear Accelerators - A Healing Garden and Meditation Space - New Thoracic Surgery Line - Full Radiation, Imaging and Diagnostic Service- New Medical Oncology Clinic - New Parking Center with 300+ Spaces - New Patient & Family Nurse Navigation Program - 15 Infusion Bays and Patient Friendly Infusion Suite


Donation Impact On The Elliot Patient Experience:

• Training technology such as simulation manikins• Gas & grocery gift cards for oncology and other

patients• Breast Cancer Survivor Event• State-of-the-art pediatric surgery technology,

advanced clinical care tools, and unit renovations.• Professional development opportunities for

nurses and staff...and more!


Pearl Manor Fund:The Pearl Manor Fund was established in 2005, when Women’s Aid Home (Pearl Manor) assets were transferred to the Mary & John Elliot Charitable Foundation to create the Pearl Manor Fund.

These funds are distributed through grants to not-for-profit agencies for new and expanded projects and programs to provide assistance, comfort, care and treatment for the elderly population of Manchester and surrounding communities.

Services supported have included:• safe housing needs; • nutritional needs;• support groups, home visits, mentoring programs;• transportation and legal assistance;• health care needs, and independent living

assistance.


Fundraising Policy:Elliot Health System policies allow only

• Volunteers and Staff of the Mary & John Elliot Charitable Foundation and the Elliot Hospital Associates to solicit external organizations, other Elliot employees, and other constituencies for Elliot funding priorities as prioritized by the Elliot and Foundation Boards.

• Personal requests and solicitations for donations for other non-profits anywhere in the Elliot Health System is prohibited per Elliot policy.

• Internal fundraising policy for the Walk for Hope can be found on the Foundation page on IKE.


How You Can Make a Difference:• Encourage grateful patients or family members to share their stories

or make a gift to Elliot. These gifts often help YOUR department – and we can help!

• Participate in the annual Employee Campaign • $1 a pay period makes a difference at The Elliot and is easy through

payroll deduction. Payroll deduction form is available online• Employee participation helps to leverage other gifts up to $100,000
