    During their meeting on August 30th, the County Commissioners signed a

    letter endorsing the Marshall County Wind Farm project being proposed

    by RPMA Great Plains Wind Development LLC from West Des Moines,

    Iowa. Mr. George Black, project manager for the Marshall County project

    shares the companies plans with Commissioners Mick Keating, Charles

    Loiseau and Tom Holle above. Black is currently contacting land owners in

    the proposed site area to explain the companys program.

    LANDOLL CORPORATION RECEIVES 2010 KANSAS GOVERNORS AWARD OF EXCELLENCE

    Don Landoll, Chairman of the Landoll Corporation, is shown herereceiving the 2010 Kansas Governors Award of Excellence fromGovernor Mark Parkinson.

    The Landoll Corporation is a world-class producer and distributor of

    manufactured products serving clients in the industries of transportation, agricultural equipment, material handling, OEM andgovernment. Founded by Don Landoll in 1963 as a welding repair shop,the company currently employs more than 550 employees and occupiesover 600,000 square feet of manufacturing space. The list of communityorganizations and projects and school activities the company and itsemployees annually support is endless. The company was the recipientof the Kansas Exporter of the Year Award in 2001. They currently export products to more than 30countries.

    The award is the top business honor and is presented annually at the Kansas Calvary Encampmentas the highlight of the states annual celebration of Kansas business.

    TRAINING SESSION SCHEDULED FOR ALL AREA LENDERS

    The Marshall County Economic Development Office, in cooperation with the US Small Busi-ness Administration, USDA Rural Development and the Washburn University Small Busi-ness Development Center, will host a training session entitled SMALL BUSINESS FINANC-ING OPTIONS FOR YOUR CUSTOMERS on Wednesday, October 27. The event is open to allarea lenders. This is an excellent opportunity for lenders to educate themselves on the ever changing government lending programs available to small businesses. Mark your calendar now and plan to attend. Full details will be forthcoming in the very near future.

    Invitations have been extended to 200 of the nationsleading consulting firms to visit communities in NorthCentral Kansas. The tour is scheduled to visit MarshallCounty on October 21st. Financial support to host thegroup is being provided by the Marshall County Com-missioners, the City of Marysville and the MarshallCounty Partnership for Growth, Inc.

    The MARSHALL COUNTY DEVELOPMENT CORPO-RATION (MCDC) has recently become more com-monly known as MARSHALL COUNTY TRAVEL AND TOURISM. Their focus is promoting and mar-keting tourism projects and activities for the com-munities in Marshall County. This includes featur-ing towns and attractions, accommodations, shop-ping, marketing events, and coordination with com-munities and other groups to promote tourismthroughout Marshall County.     The MARSHALL COUNTY ECONOMIC DEVELOP-MENT CORPORATION (MCEDC) functioned in thepast as an advisory group to the County Commis-sioners regarding economic development issues.

    The MARSHALL COUNTY ECONOMIC DEVELOP-MENT OFFICE (no acronym) has the responsibility of retaining and creating new jobs within the county and assisting to create new capital investment by businesses. In addition, the Community Develop-ment portion of the office assists individuals andcommunities in accessing various housing programsoffered by both federal and state agencies. The of-fices website contains a variety of information in-cluding county economic news, a Marshall County demographic profile, the 2010 housing study, a listof available industrial and commercial buildingsand sites, a link to a calendar of community events,

    The MARSHALL COUNTY PARTNERSHIP FOR GROWTH, INC. is a recently organized group of in-dividuals, businesses, organizations and cities that

    were organized to demonstrate that a united grass-roots effort is the best way to accomplish growthand stability throughout the county, The organiza-tion is incorporated as a Not-for Profit corporationby the State of Kansas and an application to be des-ignated as a 501-c-3 entity is being developed.

    QWhat are the priorities of the Marshall CountyPartnership for Growth and why was it formed?

    A The top priority of the Partnership currently isto serve as the point organization in conducting astudy to determine potential locations for a newMarshall County Industrial Park. The organizationis also spearheading the marketing of the recently completed Marshall County Housing Study. They also take advantage of opportunities such as the up-coming North Central Kansas Consultants Tour topromote economic development for all of Marshall

    County. The organization was formed so that cities,businesses, individuals and organizations, groupsand churches could take an active part in creatingand retaining jobs for all of Marshall County! Youcan become a Charter Member by joining NOW.

    INDUSTRIAL PARK SITE ANALYSIS STUDY

    RECEIVES SECOND CONTRIBUTION!

    C E S GROUP, PA recently joined the BLUE RAPIDS MASONIC LODGE in supporting a county-wide study to identify potential locations for a new Marshall County IndustrialPark. CES Group is headed by Rob Peschel and Tony Duever . The firm specializes in land sur-veying, civil engineering and asbestos inspections. An industrial park study account has been es-tablished by the Marshall County Partnership For Growth, Inc. with contributions received to beused specifically for funding the study by a national consulting firm. A major portion of the member-ship dues received by the Partnership is also going to financing the study

    COUNTY COMMISSIONERS LEND SUPPORT

    TO INDUSTRIAL PARK STUDY

    In their 2011 Budget, the Marshall County Commissioners approved $5,000 toward imple-mentation of the identification of potential site location for a new Marshall County IndustrialPark. This brings the total funds committed to the project to $11,250. The goal for execution of theproject is $16,720.

    MARSHALL COUNTY MARKETING VIDEO

    TO BE PRODUCED

    Mesquite 90 Productions from Fairview, Tennessee will be producing a marketing video on Mar-shall County. Each community has been invited to participate and identify locations and/or eventsthey wish to have included. Representatives from Mesquite 90 will be in the county on September

    28 & 29 filming for the project. If you have photos taken in your community (especially scenes de-

    picting community events and youth activities) we are in need of them.Please email them to us at [email protected]

    The original purpose and initial use of the video is to market the county to consultants participat-ing in the October tour. However, many other opportunities for its distribution exist.

    Funding for the project is being provided by Marshall County, the City of Marysville and theMarshall County Partnership for Growth, Inc.
