Hi, I am Shaun and this is my photo story on Mars.Have you ever heard some one call Mars “The Red Planet”?Well, that is because Mars is covered in iron oxide and likeany iron exposed to air, it will rust turning Mars red.Mars is the forth planet from the sun, and is only slightlysmaller than Earth. Mars is different from Earth in many ways. Even though Earth is larger, Mars has two different moons; Deimos and Phobes.

If you compare Mars’ atmosphere to Earth’s atmosphere,it would be equal to one percent of the size Earth’s atmosphere, so it does nothing to protect it fromradiation and other objects.

Mars’ atmosphere is composed of mainly carbon dioxide, while other gases such as oxygen and nitrogen togetherdon’t even equal two percent of the atmosphere.

Mars is approximately 6,779 km in diameter, making it about half the size of Earth. That sounds small but that is about the same amount of dry land on Earth.

The gravity on Mars is about thirty eight percent ofthe amount of gravity pulling on you on Earth.

A person who weighs a total of 200kg on earth would weigh about 76kg on Mars because of the size differenceof the two planets.
