Although students in the EveshamTownship School District are finally ontheir summer break, there’s still plenty tobe done in the district over the comingsummer months, as outlined by Superin-tendent John Scavelli Jr. at the June 25meeting of the ETSD Board of Education. At the meeting, Scavelli informed the
board and members of the public of justsome of the things that will take place inthe district between now and the time be-fore the board has its next meeting in Au-gust.Scavelli said over the summer the dis-
trict will be” very busy” finalizing prepara-tions for the 2015-2016 school year.According to Scavelli, during the sum-
mer, the district will fill several positions
and begin the transition for its new staff, inaddition to the district continuing with nu-merous curriculum development projectsand professional development activities, aswell as the district custodial maintenanceteam thoroughly cleaning all buildings andcompleting several maintenance projects.“It will be a busy summer,” Scavelli said.On the curriculum end, Scavelli said one
of the biggest things would be work on theexpansion of the district’s Tier III giftedand talented program. The district current-ly uses what’s known as the “EnrichmentTriad Model” to identify and provide forthe diverse talents of its students. In the program, Tier I and II involve the
enrichment of all students and theirunique talents, but Tier III is designatedspecifically for students who were identi-fied as being gifted. The expansion of the program will in-
clude the creation of a pullout program, through which Tier III gifted studentscould be "pulled out” from their normalclassrooms for a short period of time everyweek to instead work with other gifted stu-dents.That expansion would also necessitate
the hiring of two new teachers to serve inthat roll. The status of the Tier III expansion was
in doubt earlier this year, as the expansionof the program was originally included inthe district’s preliminary budget outlines, but cut from the tentative budget, alongwith several other new programs, due tocosts that would have forced the district touse banked cap.Banked cap allows school districts to in-
crease a school budget’s tax levy above a

From all of us at Elauwit Mediato all of our loyal readers, wewish you the happiest and
healthiest Fourth of July.As rough as things may be at times
in our country – our economy is stillrecovering, race is still an issue, andthe Phillies can’t seem to win a base-ball game anymore – things could be alot worse for us.A quick glance at the world around
us reveals just how fortunate we are, asAmericans, to have the freedoms wedo. And let’s face it, these freedoms weoften take for granted.Imagine, for just a moment, what it
must be like to live in Syria. Imagine what it must be like to live
in Iraq.
Imagine what it must be like to livein Egypt, where there’s still instabilityand a lack of confidence in the nation’sparliament. We live in a nation where, despite
our differences, we manage to co-existpeacefully for the most part.We live in a nation where our Con-
gress and where the office of the presi-dent have functioned and survived for239 years. We live in a nation where, for the
most part, we’re free to do as we please. This simply isn’t the case in many
corners of the world.Today, we give thanks for the liber-
ties won for us hundreds of years ago.We give thanks for the many women
and men who have made incrediblesacrifices to protect these freedoms inbattle in Afghanistan and Iraq – andcountless other places abroad. We remember their families who,
like they, have also made sacrifices bysaying goodbye so we can do things assimple as having a barbecue sometimethis weekend. Finally, we give thanks for all that
America is and stands for. It may notbe perfect, but a quick glance of thenews shows: life could be much worse.
in our opinion

ship is fortunate it has an indoorlocale for its concerts, as opposedto other towns that typically holda concert series on grass areas.“We have a venue that can ac-
commodate such a large crowd, and it also provides air condition-ing and seating,” Vandenbergsaid. For the first show on July 6, au-

will hold its third show with HighNoone Express, which bills itselfas “the little band with a bigsound.”The singing musical duo of
High Noone Express performs atrack list that spans the gamutfrom oldies, to standards, to clas-
sic and modern country, to R&Bto modern pop and classic rock. The following week on July 27
will be a more focused show withthe Sounds of Sinatra, a collec-tion of songs from the famoussolo artist and New Jersey nativeFrank Sinatra. As the concert series moves
into August, the next show in thelineup will be Hank’s Cadillac onAug. 3. to play some classic coun-try songs. The group’s repertoirealso features classic rock, rootsmusic with a twist of country andsome jazz standards. The penultimate show will take

show in the series will take placewith the Fralinger String Band. The 2015 concert series startedwith Mummers and will end withMummers when the FralingerString Band hits town to close theseries with upbeat songs.Vandenberg said the concerts
