Materials: Organic Merino Marle 300g. 50g/100m. 25g of Organic Merino Brown Tweed for edging. 3.5mm and 4mm hooks Tapestry needle to sew in cut ends. Tension: ‘V’ groupings to 10cm To fit Age 3-5 (as shown in picture) Size Adjustment mentioned in pattern. SIZE of garment: Length: 40cms (neck to hem). Chest: 100 (almost a double breasted jacket) Sleeve (including rollup): 38cms Optional: 2 or more buttons to suit sizes, no Button Holes required as the last decorative row allows for spaces to act as substitute. This jacket is worked in one piece to the underarm, then worked in 3 separate pieces, joined at the shoulder. The sleeves are then worked in a tubular shape. The hood being simply an extension of the neck line, joined at the crown. The pattern is the same throughout: 2tr groupings into which the next 2tr group is worked, looking somewhat like a "V", which creates a tweedy knitted fabric on the whole. To begin, with Marle and size 4mm hook, make a chain of 150

(adjust to fit smaller or larger sizes). Skip first 2 chains, into next ch, work *1dc-1ch-1tr*. Repeat * to *

at the beginning of each row, even with hood. Skip 1ch, 2tr into next ch, repeat to end.

SLEEVES: Pick up around armhole, preferably under, so as not to show the effect of starting each row...though it is not obvious anyway! Insert hook in one of the "V" spaces, 2ch-1tr, 2tr into next "V" space, then again making 20 "V" altogether. Sl st into the space of first "V". Repeat this row for at least 34 rows. Make 2 Sleeves. EDGINGS: With 3.5mm hook and Brown Tweed Merino, pick up anywhere around the Jacket, work groups of 2tr (as before), in a continuous row, along the bottom , along the front, the hood and the other front piece, working 2tr-1ch-2tr at the bottom corners of jacket. Repeat the same for the end of sleeve rollup, working on the wrong side. Buttons may be attached at any point, depending on the measurements of the child. It works well as a Japanese style crossover too. This garment will be appreciated for its warmth and for its seamless simplicity. Copyright Reserved.

Turn, into the space between 2tr, work * to *, then 2tr into every 2tr space to the end.

Repeat the last row at least another 25 times. Separate into 3

pieces (2 fronts and a back). Work as you would for the beginning of next row, repeat pattern

into 18 groups, working back and forth on these for the next 13 rows.

Repeat previous row for the other front. Skip 2 "V" for the underarm, work as before in the next 36

groupings, for the back piece. Work for 13 rows. Joining the shoulder: Align the two front pieces and the back shoulder ends, leaving 13 "V" for the neck at the centre of the back piece and 5 each for the 2 front pieces. Pick up into the first "V" at the edge of one front piece, 1dc, 2 chains, over to the back shoulder edge "V", 1dc, 2ch, then pick up again into the next "V" in the front piece, work until the end of the front shoulder piece. End yarn. Now repeat the same for the other side with back piece. HOOD: Beginning at the edge of one front piece, work pattern as before into the first 5 "V" at the front, then pick up into the 13 "V" of the back, continue into the front piece, turn and repeat the pattern for at least another 23 rows. Join the crown of the hood as you did for the shoulders.
