Marketing ‘The Cellist’

Film Poster and Magazine Review

Page 2: Marketing 'the cellist'

• To market ‘The Cellist’, a film poster and magazine review was created.

• Beforehand, I looked into different type of film posters and magazine reviews to gain an idea of the general conventions.

• One film poster I looked at was for the film Let Me In, a remake of Let the Right One In. In relation to a magazine review, I looked in Empire magazine.

• Conventions are the way in which something is usually done in a particular area.

• By researching before, I was able to create two documents to a professional standard with all conventions being taken into consideration.

Directors name and an example of a previous film. This immediately allows viewers to make an assumption

of how good the film may be. Large full

page image

draws the viewer in and gives them an insight

into what the film will be

about. In this case, the use of

black, white and

red suggests a film of the

horror genre.

The title of the film is the largest font size of the page. This is in a way key to the poster

and the title is

what you want

viewers to remember.

The tagline, like the image, gives the viewer an insight into what the film is to be about. It could be a short synopsis or

quote for example.

The ‘small print’ of the poster states

name of actors,

production company etc.

Considering the ‘short’ and ‘drama’ genre of our film, we felt it would be most appropriate to keep our poster simple

and use a limited amount of text.Large full

page image draws the viewer in and gives them an

insight into what our

film is about. One subject is

clearly signified by the actions

of the character and also

the instrument.

The tagline of our film

is ‘Keep the Old,

Discover the New’. This refers to keeping

an old possession and using it to discover

a new talent and

connection.

This text refers to the name of our production company CBSK in addition to the name of the film, the

actors, director, product, crew and music.

The title ‘The Cellist’ is the

largest texton the pageIn keeping

withconventions.
