European Wind Energy Operations & Maintenance Market Overview 2014/15

European Wind Energy Operations & Maintenance Market Overview 2014/15

The European Wind Energy Operations & Maintenance (O&M) industry is one of

the most dynamic in the world with many other markets looking to Europe for

inspiration on contracting structure, innovation in service optimisation and cost

reduction strategies.

With 117.3GW of installed wind capacity in Europe including a mix of 110.7GW

of onshore projects and 6.6GW of offshore projects, getting the right strategy of

operating and maintaining a wind farm has never been so valuable.

Echoing this sentiment the Operations & Maintenance of wind projects world-

wide accounts for one quarter of the industry’s levelised cost of energy (LCoE).

Wind Energy Update interviewed over 100 wind energy experts working in the

European market and collated the results to give you the latest market data.

In conjunction with the 7th Annual Wind Energy Operations & Maintenance

Forum Europe (20 – 21 January 2015, Hamburg) this data will give you insight

from a wind project operator, OEM and ISP’s perspective in addition to some

of the leading consultancies working in this exciting market. With the goal of

providing a view on the latest challenges being faced and the potential growth

for this expanding market.

We hope you find this report interesting, please let us know of any feedback.

The results show that the transition from end of warranty into the next phase of

operations & maintenance is a very important one. The Operators of wind farms

around Europe are increasingly assessing which O&M model to opt for, taking

greater control of their assets than ever before…

…This is echoed by the huge focus on O&M strategy and data analysis shown

below. The supply chain working in wind energy O&M are being called on to

help asset operators get the most out of their farms through services that are

easily monitored and increasing the energy yield of their assets.
