Pastor’s Notes Mark Elkins

This is a really exciting time for Grace Baptist Church! The Holy Spirit has been answering our prayers and bringing much fruit in the form of new families, dozens of new children, and new ministries like the Marriage & Women’s Conferences, and the upcoming AWANA Grand Prix. It is certainly a season of harvesting and of replanting, in the power of our Lord Jesus Christ! And along with all the incredible things God is doing in our midst, there also comes an even greater responsibility of oversight and stewardship. As our little family of God grows into a larger community, it is imperative that each of us consider our individual and collective roles in God’s plan for this body of Christ. Unfortunately, over the last several Quarterly Church Meetings, we have noticed a decline in the number of people who are remaining after our Fellowship Meal to hear updates

and help make decisions that affect the future direction of our church. I know that we are all very busy, but these meetings are vital for the continued health and growth of GBC. Which is why I wanted to take a moment in this month’s Pastor’s Notes to encourage everyone (especially members) to plan on attending this month’s Quarterly Church Meeting on Sunday, April 23rd directly following our Worship Service and Potluck Fellowship Meal. Although some meetings have been longer in the past, our Deacons have strived over the last year to streamline our agendas in order to target a 30 minute timeframe. Please, make a note on your calendar to remain an additional half-hour after the Fellowship Meal, so that together we can prayerfully seek the Holy Spirit’s future course for Grace Baptist Church.

Our Maundy Thursday Service will be at 7pm on March 29th. It will be a night of worship and reflection, as we remember the night of the Lord’s Supper and His arrest. Childcare provided. On Easter Sunday, April 1st, we will have a Sunrise Service at 7am, rain or shine. There will be no Sunday school, but we will have a special Easter Service at 11am. Please, join us and invite your friends to our special Easter Service, as we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ together! Unfortunately, the snow prevented us from having our Annual Egg Hunt at our regularly scheduled time, but we will be having our Easter Egg Hunt and Games, after the Easter Sunday service. We invite all the children to join us directly after the service in the sanctuary.

We are having a baby shower for Erin and Lewis Carroll on Saturday, April 14th here at the church from 2-4pm. Please, contact Nandrea Groves if you have any questions.

It’s time for another Quarterly Business Meeting on Sunday, April 29th. Please join us for a Potluck Lunch directly after church. Then we will have a brief Business Meeting in the sanctuary.

There will be a Baby/Child Dedication Service on May 13th (Mother’s Day.) If anyone is interested in dedicating their child/children to the Lord, during our Worship Service, please see Pastor Mark.

GBC is hosting another Blood Drive for the American Red Cross on Wed, May 16th. The Red Cross will be set up in the Fellowship Hall from 3-7pm. Please pray about donating blood and help us to spread the word to others in the community about the Blood Drive.. If you are interested in donating, volunteering, or if you just have questions, please contact Mark Elkins. Festival season in Patrick County is about to kick off again with the Stuart Strawberry Festival on Saturday, May 19th (10am-4pm), in Uptown Stuart. Please pray and consider serving, as we pass out free water to thirsty festival goers, offer free face painting for the children, and share the love of Jesus with all we meet.

It’s early, but it’s also the perfect time to mark it on your calendar! This year’s Vacation Bible School is Tuesday, July 10th – Saturday, July 14th as we travel through time in VBS: Time Lab!
