Our aims: • a primary information repository • provide greater coherence of action, • consolidate data (socio-economic and demographic) • identify information gaps. • efficient use of resources. • to assist .....access statistical data, use it more effectively. • Improve services and • provide data that will facilitate the development of funding
applications in a timely manner. • A ‘one stop shop’ for county data
How we proceeded (2009-2012) • Partnership of agencies and stakeholders • Consultants, Exodea and AspiraCon • First data survey and collection, then database
design etc • Pragmatism, only public data • Strategic alliances at national level
Results: • Was a pilot project but.....has value • Cost effective and pragmatic • Website and data up and running • Project is mainstreamed now • A site worthy of visit and use as is. • A model for other local authorities
Lessons Learnt/Challenges • Local data may be controlled nationally and.... • Local data may not be controlled nationally and .... • Getting data, processing data, time needed • A time of major change in country, agencies • Constant contracting with partners and people • Boundaries, time scales, formats and postcodes. • Data privacy concerns • A pilot is a learning experience... • National implications
