You all are truly an amazing group of spouses and I am so looking forward to our upcoming events. We are hitting the ground running - well, hiking at the very least! The Hike on October 19th should be a great one - I for one, am hoping for sweatshirt weather! Our next trip with be our NYC day trip. This was such a great time last year. Our plan is to get you there and back and you fill in your day! Pick a theatre show to go see, Rockelfeller Center Tour, 9/11 memorial and so much more! This time I think I am going to hit Radio City. November will be filled with Decorating the Commandant's home, a tour of the home and De- cember will be our Toys For Tots luncheon. What an exciting start to the year! I hope that everyone who was able to make the Welcome Aboard! As always it is such a fun time with so many new and returning faces. I think that the Welcome Aboard is my favorite event of the year, what better way to start the 2016-2017 year than lunch with friends?! Our membership continues to grow daily, with many returning members, but even more ex-citing a ton of NEW members! Be sure that you reach out and say hello to all the friendly new faces. It is that time of year again for the Membership Directory! Please keep an eye open for an email to come to your inbox regarding this year’s MOSCDC Membership directory. I will be asking you to go to your member profile and make sure that what’s listed is correct - perhaps your spouse has had a promotion since you filled out your application or you have moved. If you would like to be proactive you can log in today, update this information and you will be one step ahead. The information listed in your profile is the information which will be downloaded and printed in the Membership Directo-ry. If you have forgotten your password just click on the ‘forgot password’ link next to the login but-ton on the website. Please note that you will have until October 10th to update your information, after that what is on the website is what will be printed! Looking forward to a fun filled year and getting to know everyone, see you at the events!

We need your pictures! Last year, instead of having only one photographer, we asked all of our

members to contribute to our pictorial history. It was a great success and we would like to continue

doing it this year as well.

We have so many wonderful events scheduled and we want to capture and record the fun, friend-

ship, and camaraderie we all experience. When you attend one of these events – take pictures! They

do not have to be fancy or perfect. In fact, when we have a variety of photographers we will gain dif-

ferent perspectives and styles that will only enhance our pictorial history.

Please send your photos to [email protected] and include your name and contact information.

All pictures will be safely preserved and maintained by MOSCDC and may be subject to content ap-

proval and minor editing as needed. No photographs will be shared with outside vendors or non-

MOSCDC members. Photographs may be featured in various MOSCDC media such as, but not lim-

ited to, our newsletter, website, or our private Facebook page.

Thanks for your help creating and preserving our history!

OCTOBER

Chaplain’s message

At our house, carving the pumpkin involves more than a knife, scraper and a design. It involves a dis-cussion of the meaning of the various steps throughout the entire event. It goes something like this: As you pick your pumpkin from the patch, remember God picks you. As you wash the dirt off from the outside, remember God has washed you. As you open the top of the pumpkin, remember God knocks to open the door to come into your heart. As you scoop out the yucky insides and seeds, remember God cleans from the inside and removes the seeds of doubt, hate, greed, etc. Now if you stop there, you have a clean, but hollow vessel…. So… As you carve a design, remember that you have the daily choice of what you look like to others. As you fill it with a candle, God has to opportunity to shine through you for all the world to see! I hope you have a tradition of carving pumpkins and letting the light shine, and using this tradition to reflect on God’s love and work in our lives!
