3

The main benefit of tagging assets is the ability to easily tie corrective work to the asset record … capturing the right data to analyze full cost of asset ownership

• Corrective work is not tied to the asset record

• Total cost of ownership is not visible for assets

• Tribal knowledge is the main source of asset information

• Assets are easily identifiable in the field by all trades

• Ambiguity around which asset record work is being performed on is removed

• QR codes are available to be scanned using mobile technology to retrieve additional asset information from Maximo or create a corrective with the asset information pre-populated

4

Current State Desired State

The asset tagging process has helped improve asset data quality in

Maximo by updating records with new information, de-activating non-

existing assets and creating new assets when necessary

Asset tagging was kicked off as a project with scope larger than simply placing tags on an asset

Responsibilities are spread across the Facility Operations team to complete the tagging initiative

Central Work Management

Team

• Print and provide asset tags

• Update Maximo records as needed with collected data

• Provide process facilitator to perform the tagging and data collection and to coordinate with the operations supervisor in securing a tradesperson when needed

• Manage program and track progress status

• Provide status updates to the leadership team

Operation Supervisors

• Review weekly tagging plan presented by the tagging facilitator

• Schedule tradesperson to work with facilitator when needed

Operation Managers

• Review status updates and drive progress where needed

About the IBM MobileFirst Platform

12

The IBM MobileFirst

Platform (formerly known as

Worklight Foundation) is a

platform for building mobile

applications for the enterprise

… Maximo Anywhere and

Everywhere are built upon

the IBM MobileFirst platform

A universal type of form is used to process updates to existing assets or create new assets in Maximo

131. The asset data form is intended to support multiple processes involving asset data gathering

Requirements

A web-based tool was developed to manage and generate the content of the tags to be printed

14

Status moved from queued to printed to taggedThe portal displays all assets maintained through PM

program in the past 24 months

Tags are generated using Asset Number to retrieve tag details from Maximo

The web-based tagging portal also contains status reports to track the status of the program

15

Process executed followed by DTE continuous improvement (CI) methodology

22

Our next steps are utilizing the tags with mobile technology and re-visiting assets we were unable to tag during the first run

23

• Not all assets will be tagged 100% in the first run due to limitations such as asset locations (roof, overhead doors, etc.), accessibility, lack of knowledge and unknown requirements

• Estimated 10% of total assets

• Identify which assets require more durable stainless steel tags and create plan to tag remaining assets

• Utilize tags during work execution to identify asset and retrieve record from Maximo

• Mobile pilot completed Q1 2016, full expansion planned for Q3 2016

We are also working on closing the gap from the field to Maximo to Documentum

24

• Capture data from field into Asset data forms
