God always forgives, always. but He asks that I forgive. If I don’t forgive, in a certain sense, I am closing the door to God’s forgiveness.

September 17, 2017
Forgive your neighbor's injustice;
then when you pray,
your own sins will be forgiven. -- Sirach 28:2
Catechetical Sunday: September 17, 2017
Living as Missionary Disciples / Viviendo como discípulos misioneros
On this day, catechists are formally commissioned for ministry to the community. Catechetical Sunday is a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the role that each baptized person plays in handing on the faith and being a witness to the Gospel. Catechetical Sunday is an opportunity for all to rededicate themselves to this mission as a community of faith.

Deepening Our Faith “Whether we live or die, we are the Lord’s,” says Saint Paul. As we gather today at God’s invitation, let us be mindful that we belong to the Lord, and pray for ways that we can be a reconciling presence in the world. The word from today’s scriptures is “reconciliation.” Sirach tells us that wrath and anger are hateful things. Jesus says we must forgive seventy-seven times. As we listen to these inspired messages from our loving God, let us reflect on grudges we have held and re-sentments that we carry still, and let these readings be the spark that lights our way to reconciliation with all our sisters and brothers.
Question of the Week Who needs my forgiveness? How might I start
a “ripple of forgiveness” that could expand to a global tidal wave of unending forgiveness?
Having faith does not mean having no difficulties, but having the strength to face them, knowing we are not alone. Pope Francis
