Familiar themes run through this collection, the power of the elements and human emotions brought on
by the natural world. Hernandez straddles the fine line between landscape and abstraction. Turbulent
ocean melts into infinite planes of colour.
With a new studio overlooking the Thames, water is an ever-present influence, whether it is a reflected
sunset over calm waters or the memory of the crashing waves of the south Pacific in her native Chile.
There is a wild juxtaposition between the calm serenity in some of the paintings and a blood-red
passion in others.
