First step in a Accor great story…

After serious studies in the United States, Margaux joined the Ecole Hôtelière de Lausanne, the so famous Hospitality Management School. During this experience, she enhanced her talent for service and studied thoroughly the luxury hospitality techniques and acquire competencies.

Developping those assets, Margaux went through successfully into the EHL 2013 Strategy Challenge.organized around Accor, and she was part of the french winnng team.

To the target : define the new Accor Upscale to Luxury Brand, she, with her team, proposed and convinced the jury that their project Sofitel Lodges was the most inspiring and seriously worked out one.

Then after graduating, Margaux decided to join Accor Group. First, having heard about the huge Accor development in China, she applied for our properties over there. After great efforts, it has been clearly announced that because of visa issues, it would be necessary to start the search towards a Backup plan.

This plan quickly appeared as a very good one! The program was to join the opening team of the magnificent Sofitel Bali Nusa Dua Beach Resort for a management International Training in Rooms Division.

-      As a Lausanne Hospitality Management School student (EHL), what motivates you to join Accor Group?

 I always wanted to join a strong international group in which I could develop my hospitality skills and later on, count on them to help me reach my professional goals.

One of the many reasons I choose Accor and particularly Sofitel brand it is because it is moving fast. There are a lot of interesting new projects, new teams, and new opportunities. As I would like to work on hotel openings, it seems like a good fit!

 -       What is your current mission?  

 Currently the hotel is in the pre-opening stage. We still have few constructions going on, in the property. One of my missions was to monitor the progress of the project team in the rooms and public areas.

As a management trainee in rooms division, I am trained in different room division departments. I am starting with housekeeping department in which I assist the executive housekeeper as her assistant. I monitor the housekeeping team (around 70 ambassadors, 10 supervisors), assure the cleanliness of the rooms, give training to the team, monitor the maintenance of the rooms and public areas.

 -    What does this position bring to you? What do you expect from it for the future?  

 Currently assisting the executive housekeeper is helping me work on my managerial skills. It is a challenge to have to manage people very different from you: not the same culture, the same language, and not used to the same standards.

After working in the housekeeping department, I will be able to join the front office team. I look forward to this experience in order to have more contact with the guests and to take on a different challenge!

 From this experience, I hope that at the end of my training I will feel comfortable in all the rooms division departments and to join the Sofitel team permanently!
