Rep. Kip Kendrick, a Democrat, represents part of the City of Columbia and Boone County in the Missouri House of Representatives. Kendrick currently serves as the Minority Whip of the Democrat Caucus and one of the two Intern Coordinators for the House of Representa-tives. Kendrick’s professional resume includes administrative positions with Job Point as an Employment Advisor, with Boone County Family Resources as Support Coordinator, with Columbia College as an Assistant Director of Admissions, and with the University of Missouri, School of Journalism as a Study Abroad Advisor.

working in the disability field since 1983. Karen serves as SEEC’s Executive Director and is an innovative provider of a full complement of services to people with developmental disabilities. In partnership with The Ivymount School, Karen played a pivotal role in the creation and staffing of the highly success-ful Project SEARCH programs at the National Institutes of Health, Montgomery County Government, and the Smithsonian Institution. Karen is a stalwart advocate for people with developmental disabilities, providing leadership in many advocacy groups including a U.S. Dept of Labor Customized Employment Think Tank, founder and member of Maryland’s Employment First Committee, Maryland Community Learning Services Committee, and Co-Chair of MC InterACC/DD, a coalition of Montgomery County service providers.

Come and hear Karen Lee speak about the journey from the traditional ways we think about people with disabilities in the workforce to the endless possibili-ties that exist. Karen will share personal experiences from people supported by SEEC, a provider agency in Montgomery County, Maryland as well as share some stories about people who most thought would never be a wage earner and their journey to paid work.

Karen will continue her morning discussion describing the first two components of Customized Employment. Karen will share practical tips and tools of the trade to help you jumpstart your discovery and job development process for job seekers. This presentation will offer the audience time to learn, practice, and plan for discovery and job development with someone they know. This presentation will be conducted as an open format so you can ask questions about a person or a part of the process you are working on.
